Milliways: Age of Sail stuff!
Ok, so ages ago, I tagged a Happy Hour hosted by jane_becomes , who was asking for stories. Earlier that month I had read through a book of 'pirate ghost stories'- and while mostly I picked out some fun elements and superstitions, there was one main story I took plenty of notes on. (And alas, the notebook I took them in, as well as the title and author of the story, is MIA. *sheepish*) And, well- needing a story for Wellard to tell, it seemed like it would work! And it did. And... Ok, I'm proud of it, since its lots of fun having chars tell stories in their own words, and seeing what sort of details they focus on.
So, here it is. Fair warnings for 18th-19th century socially acceptable vocabulary, as well as tropes. *rueful* Which were also in the exact story I read.
