BB Creams and Charcoal Nose Pore Strips

The other day I went to the "Superstore" in San Gabriel with my mom. I ended up browsing the girly area there. I call it the girly area because they sell Asian skin care products, Asian cosmetics, and Asian cutesy accessories (stationary, stuffed animals, keychains, cute gifts in general). I will tell you all right now that I absolutely adore small Asian gift shops. I'm talking about stores like Sanrio, or the no-name stores that sell a bunch of miscellaneous Hello Kitty items and Asian cosmetics.

ANYWAYS, I was there... and they actually had a good number of bb creams! So I asked the salesgirl how much one of them was, and the cheapest one was $28. I figured that maybe it was some super fancy kind. The most expensive one they had was the Hanskin Premium Magic for $64!!! That's when I realized that this place was just overpriced. On Amazon, the same bb cream is priced at around $24 plus shipping, so it's nowhere near $64 (so ridiculous). Unfortunately, I think that most Korean cosmetics sold in the U.S. are overpriced simply because they're imported from Korea. She recommended another pricey bb cream by Dr. Eslee for my oily skin. I tested it at the store and really liked it, but a 60 mL tube costs $48 (not too bad, but out of my price range). This one actually costs the same online, but I decided not to get it.

Instead, I went for the skincare products they had and picked up a box of nose pore strips. I usually buy the Biore ones, but they're kinda pricey and I just HAD to buy something that day. I got Purederm's Botanical Choice Charcoal Nose Pore Strips.

The box says that it contains witch hazel extract, which is good for acne-prone skin and large pores. A friend of mine uses a charcoal scrub from Lush to wash her face, and it's supposed to brighten your complexion and clear your skin of impurities. After hearing about her super fancy charcoal facial scrub, I wanted to try it out for myself and see if it would work for brightening up my skin. Well, I don't go to Lush very often and I've only purchased something from there ONCE. And it wasn't even for me. Why not start with something small like this $3.99 box of pore strips?

I tried one strip the day that I bought it. It has this strong herbal smell. I can't tell if it's from the witch hazel or the charcoal, but I, personally, like it. The strip itself isn't too amazing. I didn't notice a huge difference in the skin on my nose other than the obvious fewer amount of blackheads because they've been pulled out. These strips are probably at the same level as the Biore strips, so I'll probably buy more of them in the future. They have different kinds too. I might try the Tea Tree or the Green Tea ones next time.

I also ordered myself a new bb cream. I originally was just going to order a couple bb creams for my cousin. She's living here with me and my family while she goes to school in the states. While looking through some bb creams with her on Amazon, I decided to order for myself the Dr. Jart Silver Label BB Cream. I'm still waiting on a shipping confirmation from the seller. If it hasn't shipped by tomorrow night, I'll have to message them asking what's up.

I'm super excited. As much as I love the Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream, it's too moisturizing for my oily skin. I've heard from a few sources (including kimoko) that the Silver Label is good for oily skin, so I am going to try it out. I really hope that it works well for me. Other ones I was considering were Baviphat's Tea Tree It Trouble Catch BB Cream and also Baviphat's Magic Girls BB Cream in Fresh for Oily Skin. Oh, and their Sugar Girl Peach Sebum Solution Pact (I can't resist. Just look at how cute it is!!). Can you tell that I really like things that are made for oily and acne-prone skin? And also cute packaging? I try to avoid products that I think will make me break out, because that's just a waste of money on something that I will probably never use.

I will always love the Missha Perfect Cover even though my face is really shiny after an hour of wearing it. It has the best amount of coverage and blends beautifully. Despite my face being super shiny and oily from it, my skin still looks super flawless. I love how it feels, and if I dust from mineral powder on top, OH MAN. Basically, I feel like I'm a Korean soap star when I wear it.

So I'll keep y'all updated on that. And I'll definitely try to take pictures so that my entries are less boring. :P Let me know if you've ever tried any of Baviphat's products. I love their packaging and I have read one rave review about the staying power of their bb cream.

Love,
