Looking for a Liquid Foundation

From the ages of 15-17, I lived off of liquid foundation. I never did a full face of foundation for school, but I definitely used it to lessen discolorations on my face. I even used it to "conceal" blemishes. (NOTE: For those of you who don't believe me when I say that I used it as a concealer, think of those ultra creamy drugstore concealers that come in lipgloss tubes. You dot directly onto your blemish and gently tap it with your finger to blend it in.)

Back then my skin was a lot better than it is now, and my makeup routine was simple. Strategically applying liquid foundation was the only thing I did for those days where I had a little bit of extra time. This was before I discovered the awesomeness of mineral foundations. I even had this cute retractable kabuki brush to apply on the go! Unfortunately, I came to realize that although powder mineral foundation looks great once it's set, it looked a lot heavier than I would like. Should I switch back? Well, now it seems as though every liquid foundation out there is at war with my skin, and it's an ugly battle.

Feeling nostalgic some time ago, I purchased Covergirl's Oil Control Clean Liquid Makeup. I read better reviews for some other drugstore foundations, but I couldn't afford to spend my money on some $12 product that may or may not work. Anyways, I loved the way it looked and felt, but within a couple hours I had cystic acne on my cheeks. I was devastated! Maybe I should've shelled out the extra moolah for Physician's Formula or Revlon. Le sigh.

In any case, I'm really interested in trying out the fairly new Covergirl Natureluxe Liquid Silk Foundation. I have heard and read only good reviews about it. Apparently it might be a dupe of the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation ($42 at Sephora, yikes!), which I find believable. Supposedly it even fights acne, or at the very least it won't make me break out. The only negative that has been brought up so far is the color. Someone mentioned that it was too pink? This might be an issue for me, because I often find that a lot of foundations and concealers are too orange on my skin. I think my tone has a freakish gray/neutral undertone, so a lot of things come off too red or too yellow. We'll see with this one! I'm considering purchasing it, but the money saving side of me is telling me to wait until I use up my BB cream or something.

Another one on my "To Buy" list is something that's actually been around for a while. I am already a Neutrogena skincare junkie--I'm talking facial scrubs, sun block, and moisturizers. It's a brand that I trust. Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup looks promising. I'm not expecting amazing results for my skin, but I trust that it won't make me break out. My personal experience with one particular Neutrogena foundation left me with an orange face, and supposedly their stuff doesn't cater to the fair skinned such as myself. I'm going to assume that the stuff I did try before was the skinclearing foundation, and products with salicylic acid do oxidize and turn a slightly reddish orange color when they dry. This, however, doesn't have salicylic acid, but I'm hoping that it won't do anything to too terrible to my skin like that Covergirl Clean foundation did.

As always, less is always better. I know people with naturally flawless skin, and I can only fake that. I try to get by with as little as possible, but lately I have been using more than I did in the past. I'm trying to get back to that, as I remember that my skin was also more agreeable when I was in my mid-teens. It might just be my body changing though. I'm not sure.

I'll keep you updated on if/when I purchase these and what I think of them. If you've tried either of them, please let me know what your thoughts were!

Love,
CupcakeGlitter
