yay! dramione post.

So, recently I've been re-reading my Draco/Hermione fanfic, Water.

The aim is to tidy it up, send it off to jenl3227 and dianoram (who, unrelated to being my betas, are two fantastic people that I'm very pleased to have met), and then post the revamped versions online.

ANYWAY, I have a question:

Has anyone else got a story or a piece of art that they've completely immersed themselves in, and then looked back on and thought -- wow, where did that come from?

Here's the thing -- THERE IS SO MUCH ANGST IN WATER.

Like, dirty, massive waves of angst. The story completely revolves around that darkness. Draco is so fragmented in all these irrepairable ways. In the earlier chapters, especially.

And it got me thinking -- where did it all come from? Where did I get some of those thoughts and words from? I don't have any personal connection to any of the feelings, and I don't specifically know of anyone who has their life so tangled up in that kind of pain.

But when I sit down to write this story, it all flows out of me so easily. Whenever I'm thinking in the context of Draco, the words fill the page without me having to really think too hard at all. In the earlier chapters, some of the stuff was really dark. It was kind of scary, in fact. All the violence and swearing. And I wrote chapter after chapter of it. It never seemed difficult writing Draco.

In contrast, I've actually always found writing Hermione (who is comparably rational and stable) a lot harder.

I don't even know where I'm going with this entry. I guess it just struck me how much angst I packed into every single chapter of Water. I haven't reread the story properly for a very long time, so it sort of surprised me all over again.

Anyway, since I'm on the subject of Dramione, I just wanted to express my ETERNAL GRATITUDE to the mods of Hawthorn & Vine. everythursday and elyaeru are too good to us. I think it's a fantastic site in its own right -- not as any replacement for Coloured Grey. If CG ever came back, I feel as if the two sites could exist happily alongside each other. H&V has its own character and uniqueness already.

ALSO, while I'm at it, a massive thank you to itsbeenvery, ldymusyc and spadul for maintaining dramione. I love that comm. I need to stop being such a lurker and post in it a bit more!

water, dramione love, discussion, thanks, flist
