a small unrobing-

livejournal is a process of catharsis not actual thought for me. it's where i untangle the annoying rhymes in my head to make a note to conciously examine later on paper pen and ink. i don't like standing bare and naked with my reasons in this setting... it isn't the appropriate outlet for me. it's completely selfish and uninvolved without concrete explanations of thoughts. wandering ideas before they set root and evolve.

everyone will change the world, whether they "deserve" to or not. and i agree all intentions are not noble, (ie the KKK's intention to eradicate a people). changing the world implies we perceive a conflict that inspires or aggravates us to action.

some reasons why i am angry and unsatisfied... introducing "THE CONFLICT":
rich white kids supported by their rich parents that one day decide to romanticize poverty and live "freely" and exploit welfare, without realizing the absurdity of romanticizing a form of discrimination they've never had any organic experiences with because they willing choose it. this is not a form of liberation it is a form of denial. and while everyone is entitled to live independently with their own ideas i don't like a lifestyle they're alienated from being romanticized void of experience, it's naive, arrogant, and encourages a form of opression they've never touched bases with.

white people claiming they've experienced "reversed racism" when this is entirely impossible because they exist as part of the dominant group that incites racism, they are not victims of it they are benefactors of a a stratified system and often perpetrators in it's belief structure often using these false allegations as excuses to reinforce stereotypes that prejudice thrives on.

the little box on the SATs that asks what race you are when race doesn't exist, there are no biological roots of race it is an empty concept used as an excuse for racism. these same questions do not include what culture we identify with, or allow us to check multiple boxes as we are all a part of one race the human race and have more variation than can be represented by a box category. furthermore, being forced to respond to the illigetimacy of this box immediately reinforces the stereotypes we've all internalized and can affect our test results up to 25%.

1 in 4 women will be raped. we should not grow up in fear of our gender. women make 75cents to every dollar a man makes in equal work with equal qualifications and education, this ammount decreases with the intersection of ethnicity, where individuals are doubly discriminated against. women make up the majority for single parent headed households where they are the sole providers, often considered a bad parent or a worker because they engage a duel role that isn't regarded with respect.

racial profiling, and a faulty system of the law. while 1 in 100 people in america are incarcerate, 1 in 25 latinos are incarcerated and 1 in 15 blacks are incarcerated??? that's a HUGE difference, why?

people dying in hospitals of inadaquate care because we don't have a system that respects the human right to life free of illness. seeing this firsthand has convinced me it's unacceptable.

low-income mama's not recieving adaquate sex education, (as it's forbidden in many states), not given appropriate means of prevention whether having access to education or chosen method of birth control, or the morning after pill or abortion in instances of methods failing or otherwise, and than being demonized for their pregnancies and not given resources that empower them. not offered a community that supports them.

corporate welfare!!!

somedays the failure of the public school system. where american history doesn't involve the people's history and therefore doesn't involve or empower us.

some of these issues i've experienced firsthand, others i have painfully witnessed. all invoke an anger that makes me want to combat the essence of helplessness and hopelessness. i am going to change this in a way i never believed in before, enriching my experiences and my intentions with education... partly through an institution, (that actually ensures i'll be combating a small part of my dissatisfaction: a degree=more $$$ for the work i do), partly through interacting and learning from a community of diversity and being touched firsthand by the lives of people surviving the violence of the world and using these beautiful individuals as my source of enlightenment. working within an organization that offers multiple services for low-income and drug addicted mama's. ensuring to the best of my abilities that these women and families are acknowledged, respected, and empowered to know everything that is available to support them. i think for me working within a network of agencies (even with all the bullshit of beuracracy) has the possibilty of a stronger impact because i'm working within a structure of change and not exhausting efforts working alone against it. i also decided i'm going to change the world by writing kid's books about people's histories, because we deserve strong beginnings that recognize everyone's contribution.

what is noble to me might not be noble or justified to you, and that's okay because we're all individuals entitled to our own individual intentions. our experiences are different which entails our interests and issues will vary, and that's a blessing most of the time.
