In Spain

In Spain, I didn't quite realize that when they say that dinner is usually eaten late, it means that the restaurants don't even OPEN until 9:00 p.m.!

Last night, my coworker and I went out for dinner at 7:00, what to me seemed a reasonable time to eat. Every restaurant we passed was boarded up tight, including the one I'd found recommended in Let's Go and sought out for its promised dish of Camembert with fresh blueberry sauce. Our options were a smoke-filled bar with greasy food and a less smoke-filled bar with greasy food. We went with the less smoke-filled bar and ordered something quite disgusting: soggy white asparagus with a glob of mayo. Blech! And my salmon plancha, which I expected to be grilled salmon, was some greasy monstrosity fried in a vat of butter. My god; how do these people eat like this and not weigh 300 pounds??

Good news was that in our wanderings, we ran across quite a few fantastic shoe stores, and we've made the plan to go boot-shopping after work tomorrow. Then disco nap, then back the Camembert/blueberry restaurant at 9:00 for a REAL dinner.
