MAIN COURSE.

What are you THANKFUL for (outside of HiH)? What are your holiday traditions (any or all holidays that you celebrate)? Being that this term also celebrates HiH anniversary.... how long have you been a member? What HiH "traditions" do you like the most?

I'm thankful that my family is healthy and we have a roof over our heads! As for HiH I've been a member here since 2010, and I am so thankful for all the people I've met and my favorite "tradition" is Hogsmeade weekend!

I've been a member for about 5 1/2 years, actually (and still sometimes claim I'm 24 years old because that was my age on my HiH application).,, my favorite traditions are always the in-House ones for HiH!

As for thankful for: I'm thankful for knowing things are finally going in the right direction!

My family doesn't have a lot of traditions in general, but we've always always always watched "A Charlie Brown Christmas" together on the first night of Chanukah. I don't know how that started but we still do it now.

One of the things I'm most thankful for is my family. We have our differences but I know that I'm always safe to be open and honest with them about anything. I'm thankful that I didn't have to grow up how my great grandparents did in Eastern Europe. I'm thankful for all the opportunities I've had in my life. I know that I'm lucky.

As for HiH, I haven't been a member long enough to have favourite traditions here yet but I'm excited to figure 'em out.

I have been here for a little over a year (in June). I love HiH. I may suck at it right now and be so blah, but it has fallen into a special place in my heart. I know that no matter what I can come in anywhere and there will be someone to cheer me up.

Home traditions - dinner with my SIL. It started while she was still separated from my brother. The first one I remember (besides when they were together), really sucked because I had a sinus infection. The next year I was pushing out a turkey for Thanksgiving. Beyond that - every thanksgiving is at her house. THe holidays were big for her family and after her dad died, she has pushed for them to be big. Last year I went to a friend's house and it was fun, but not the same. SIL and family and my kids were in Florida having Thanksgiving with my dad. We all had a feeling it was going to be his last. I work retail, so I wasn't able to go.

I'm thankful for literally everything that I have. In particular, my amazing friends, family and boyfriend, and for their health and happiness. I would list everything else I feel very grateful about, but my list would go on forever.

I've only been a member at HIH for about a year and a half, but I am very thankful for its existence and that it hung around for a good 9 years before I even joined!

Now that my parents have an empty nest, a lot of our traditions are no more. :( However, I am spent Thanksgiving with the in laws and will spend Christmas there as well. My parents are 12-14 hours away, so it's too long a drive, and I don't have the funds to see them this year. Hopefully soon!

I've only been at HiH for 5 months, but so far I love our Snake Attack Sundays and tags, our end of term pot, our monthly activities, and our Hogsmeade weekends!
