Tada! That's right, I'm alive! Alive and well [well apart from the bruises scattered on my arms and legs].
Ok so things went ridiculously well on Sunday [I'm almost waiting to wake up from the dream only to find a day of torture still awaiting me but no, not today hahaha ^^].
Things got off to a bit of a slippery start [the floor was hardwood so getting one's balance was a bit of a challenge at first]. I got one of my favorite sensei's, Sensei Dixon, as my marker so that was really reassuring. He's a really cool guy and he just puts me at ease while at the same time keeping a serious tone [plus he drives a motorcycle - how cool is that ^^]. So I got called up first to do my individual katas, which is ok since I like to get things over and done with [plus since I'm the first person he sees the katas from, so then I look better than if I were to go last and follow a bunch of really amazing katas]. So I did two katas and then got to sit down so the next person could go, then got up again at my turn and did two more and so on. I think all in all I did about 6 or 8 katas, which didn't even include Aragaki unsu, Shisochin or Seisan [my favorite :'( ] which are all black belt katas. Then we did what's called Futari no kata which is a two person kata. But I didn't get to do it with Patricia [one of my classmates who was grading too]. Instead I got to do it with this guy named Christian [who was actually grading for his shodan the same time as me two years ago ^^, and has this awesome old school kiai - apparently Shesh and Kendra are going to marry him ::shrugs::].
Then we took a short break and I got to go talk to the family and Ben, Kendra and Shesh [did I actually scare you? if so then I'm sorry!]. Things got underway again about 10 minutes later with stuff like knife self-defenses and sparring [sorry Ben, so five on one for me!]. The two guys grading for sandan had to do 6 [of us] on two [of them] which was extreme. Then Sensei [my sensei] had the sandan cadidates sit down and had the six nidan candidates go at each other [which was really difficult not to laugh at - six guys pounding the tar out of each other in various ways]. Patricia and I got paired up to do what's called bunkai next which is when Sensei Dixon gives us a section of a kata and we demonstrate how it could apply to a real life situation [easier said than done let me tell ya]. Then we got asked our theory question and we were done. Done I tell you! I could hardly believe it when he said for everyone to line up. All that nervousness over that?! What was I thinking? Although in a way it was a good thing [better to think that worst and be pleasantly surprised than to underestimate and be not so pleasantly surprised].
Now comes the waiting. Whoever said patience was a virtue should be shot because that's the reason why Snesei makes us wait a month before we get our belts [if we passed that it, he doesn't make you wait that whole month just to tell you that you failed].
So life is finally back to semi-normal for me, although I do have this whack load of homework that I have to deal with now, no more excuses -_-; .
