I've had a killer headache all day, as well as some muscle pain. But then several hours of incredibly heavy rock music in a fully-packed stadium with a capacity of up 14,000 people ...
But Pearl Jam rocked, so it was well worth it. They played for almost 2 1/2 hours. Ah, how it brought back memories of being eight watching the MTV coverage of the '91 US elections. (Yeah, I was listening to good ol' late 80s-early 90s grunge back in primary school when all the other kids were into Take That *shudders at the thought of boybands* But then that's what happens when you have much older brothers who are devoted to rock music). It was really amazing, and as embarrassed as I am to say, only my second concert (seen loads of gigs, but not concerts like this), the other of course being another grunge band, Smashing Pumpkins.
And this time thankfully I had a seat rather than being in the standing area; being about two people from the front at Smashing Pumpkins was amazing, but at some points I feared for my life (such as when they started 'Tonight, Tonight'), and that was at a much, much smaller venue! The moshpit at this one ... it was quite terrifying, with the amount of pushing and crowd surfing. Yeah, I'm into the music, but certainly not that side of the rock lifestyle! And where our seat were, we were right below a skybox (the stadium also doubles as a ice hockey arena) full of my brother's friends, so we got snacks passed down to us :D
But, yes, the headache. All I drank when I was there was a massive Fanta Orange as 1) I didn't want drink to blur my memories of the event, 2) I had work to figure out this morning, so didn't want to have a hangover. But, nope, regardless of good behaviour, and despite the fact my ears returned to normal before I got home, little work got done today thanks to my head. Everyone is telling me it's as I'm getting old ;_; Think it's gone now, though my shoulder is now very tender for some reason, therefore meaning swimming tomorrow may be a no-go.
On another note, I've gotten up to volume 8 of Monster, and am adoring it, but then after Pluto and 20th Century Boys, I didn't doubt it. I've only got one more volume on my shelves to read, though, and I was hoping not to spend any more cash until I go to London/Guildford next week so I can spend a bit there, especially in the Japanese stores. So I may have to read the other waiting manga I have until I get back and know how much of my "pocket money" I have spare to get a few more volumes.
And I've redone my LJ style again
cultnirvana. Wanted something a little lighter. Just have one banner up at the moment, from Honey & Clover (which I'm once again on a kick for after finishing the manga and finally getting the anime on DVD), but I'll need to get a few more up there, especially of more recent fandoms,
similar ones I've put up on my wee icon rotator. (Still looking for more, and may try to make some ones. And, yeah, I'm back in a Star Trek mood again too.) Gonna have to figure out what I want to do in terms of a mood them, one to match the new look.
Other than that, next few months of work are looking good if everything comes through. In the best case scenario, I could have up to six months of steady work, paying a good bit more than I've made in any job before. Fingers crossed.
Right, bedtime with Monster vol. 9. Then some work tomorrow, with maybe a break to grab some copic liners (one 0.3 mm and one brush), and, if my shoulder isn't still screwed up, a trip to the pool.
