Avon - Blake's Seven

Feb 08, 2012 07:19

For Christmas my brother was given “Blake's 7” series one.  I'm only 31 so for me “Blake's 7” is entirely new and I love it!

My favourite character has to be Avon. I was wondering if anyone has any good pictures of Paul Darrow as Avon they can share with me?  Also are there any big fans of the series here, and without giving anything away, which  ( ... )

It's a brilliant series - I think series 2 is even better as well but of course I won't spoil that except to say : you're in for a ride! The one thing I found interesting about B7 is it really feels like the precurssor(sp?) to a lot of modern shows that proceeded it like the 00's version of battlestar galactica.

Avon is definitly the best character and often a favourite, and with good reason and strangely unlike Blake himself, I think Avon sums up the series best in that it is not black and white but very many shades of grey.

Just Google avon paul darrow and then click 'images' at the side of the page. Most of the classic ones taken during the series are there. I am not sure if any of the fan art is on-line (some of it is gorgeous) but you can always hope.

Personally, I think the series went seriously downhill (and out of character) after the end of Season 2 (indeed, I won't have Seasons 3 and 4 in the house.) At the time I was a big Avon fan, not to mention a Cally fan but, over the years, have come to appreciate Blake more and more. Vila is the most fun character to write, though and the team dynamics are great.

This was the series that actually got me into media fandom...

which series is the best?

I think you really have to watch this one right through from the beginning of season 1.

I'm not sure I prefer any one season but the more you watch the more complex the relationships become, especially between Blake and Avon. It's an interesting series because unusually for a science fiction show it's very character-driven. What the series has to say is mostly said through the character interactions between Blake and Avon, between Servalan and Blake and Servalan and Avon.

Oh,wow! That brings back fond memories!

Sometimes I wish that I could forget the whole series so that I could watch it all over again for the first time! Each season has something to recommend it, in my opinion, in terms of character growth and interaction.

I believe you're going to really enjoy watching them all!
