So Tyler took me out to eat last night.
It's weird, because two months ago, after our one date (that I enjoyed, and thought we got on well at, and I paid for) he told me he didn't think he wanted to date me after all. Which was fine, even if it left me feeling a little (okay, a lot) disappointed. I mean, he was serious about wanting to be friends, and we've been texting on and off a fair amount since then, so there's that.
We finally had a day off on the same day yesterday, though, and had been talking about doing something since the day before, when I went to visit him up at Quiznos (I was bored, texted him, said hi, he said I'm at work, why don't you come up and see me, so I did). So yesterday he asked me "Do you want to go eat somewhere? I still owe you a dinner" so I just got dressed in some regular clothes, thinking we were just going to hop over to Clinton to White Dog or Wong's or something.
Then I get a message - "I feel like getting out of Weatherford. How about Yukon?" And I'm like "uhh... sure?" Yukon is about an hour's drive away, for those who aren't familiar with Oklahoma geography.
So he gets to my house - I'm in a nice(r) t-shirt and shorts and flipflops - and I open the door to see this gorgeous guy, in a nice dress shirt and jeans, and I'm like "Oh... hi!"
And we drive to Yukon, chatting the entire way there, and we decide to eat at Johnny Carino's (which is this nice, sit-down, swanky Italian restaurant), and he ends up paying, which I sort of expected but I didn't expect it to be so expensive! And then we went to Orange Leaf (this really cool ice cream place where you pay by how much your bowl weighs after you've gotten your ice cream and toppings, and they've got types of ice cream like wedding cake and snickerdoodle, and raspberry and coconut and cheesecake and et cetera and toppings like Fruity Pebbles and Snickers and Skittles and real strawberries and blueberries and raspberry's and it's freaking amazing), and he doesn't pay there, we both get our own, which I expected.
And then he drove us home, and we chatted all the way back.
And then he just dropped me off, and was like "Later," and I was like "Later."
So on the one hand it looks like a date since he dressed up and we went somewhere nice. But on the other he said he didn't want to date me, which just makes it a fun outing that he paid for since I paid the last time.
Signals - very mixed.
In other news, we got a new roommate today, who took over the only unoccupied room. Chris stayed home from work today (that jerk) to help him move in (and so we wouldn't have a potential creeper alone with all our stuff), his name is apparently Tyler (irony!), he plays guitar, and neither Brandt nor I have actually met him since he was not home when I came home for lunch and he apparently works nights so was gone when I got off work (even though I went over to swim and hang out at Adam and Sara's anyway - and can I just say Adam is a total hottie and I am so very sad he's engaged to Sara, but he's a really cool guy anyway).
So there's that.
I work in exactly twelve hours, which sucks, but I do need the money. I couldn't say "no, Tyler, I can't go with you to Yukon because I have to pay a phone bill" and anyway I already had to get some gas, so I'm short on my phone bill thus far - it's looking like I'll have to pay it on the seventh when I get paid, and just hope ATT doesn't turn off my phone between now and then because my bill's late (the bill is 96 dollars, I think, and I have 70-something in my wallet right now, I think).
Countdown to Finland (even though I haven't gotten the passport yet) - 29 days
