OH MY GOD TANNER'S UPDATING.

So yeah. Here's an update, I suppose. I think it's going to be a long one.

So, I just got back today from Huntsville (suburb of Houston) and the KCACTF (that's Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for you non-drama nerds) which, I have to say, was not very well organized. At all.

Damn this wind, it's irritating me. Our window is, like, drafty and the whole building makes this moaning sound, I'm never going to get to sleep, grr.

Anyway. KCACTF. First off, the theatre was small. Like, the mainstage held about 500 people and the showcase about 70. That's TINY! Lots of people were turned away from shows (I couldn't get in to see Home the first time, or Buried Child at all) and it sucked. I mean, if you're going to hold an event for a competition spanning FIVE STATES (Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana), shouldn't you make certain you have the room?

The schedule was so fucked up, too. They gave us one schedule as like a name badge thing, they gave the staff a completely different one, and apparently neither of them was right. For example, I wanted to participate in this 24 hour Theatre event (like, playwrights wrote a play in the span of 10 hours, and directors and actors and stage managers were all randomly selected for a cast and they put on the play, it sounded like SO MUCH FUN) but I didn't get to because I went to go to the meeting where it said to go on my schedule and not only was it not there, it wasn't even at that time! It pissed me off, really, it did.

Oh my god, though, Anima Mundi was the greatest show there. It was about the life of David Armitage and it was told, like, through a sequence of tarot cards, it was amazing. The set design was like these two platforms and then this big spiral staircase that hinged outward and this clockwork gear that hung above everything parallel to the ground with three little screens in it for pictures. It was AMAZING. I'm the only person from my school who liked it o_o.

I totally bit a small chunk out of my tongue on the ride up and now it's just like this big ass canker sore on the side of my tongue and it FUCKING HURTS I need Motrin brb.

I didn't get drunk, really, but I got tipsy two or three times :D.

Got inspired, too. Wrote a monologue and I've written the first scene of a play titled "Nothing Personal".

Also, it hurts to think I have no friends. I was ignored so much on this trip it wasn't even funny. People would, like, go into their little groups (most notably Tyler, Randi, and Rusty; Tiffany and Jess; August and Dayna) and I'd just sit back and watch them have fun chatting away. I tried talking to Tyler a little more than usual, like about what he wanted to do after college and stuff and I got the response "Sorry, but I don't like to talk about that stuff with people I don't know very well. Nothing personal" hence the title of my play :). Happened with Randi too, only she was apologizing for snapping at me. "Sorry, I don't usually know when someone's joking with me if I don't know them very well. Nothing personal" see a trend?

I have a crush on Tyler again. Rooming with him and Rusty for a week didn't help. Seeing him walk around shirtless, in his underwear, and even in just a towel (twice, but who's counting?) REALLY didn't help. Sigh.

I think that's all for now. ARE YOU HAPPY CHLOE?

theatre, crush, kcactf, tyler, friends
