[She watches his hand move and immediately seeks to pin his wrist to the counter so he can't pick it up, also pressing the hand at his neck to a fist at his throat.]

Bark a command at me again grubling, and it will be the last thing you ever do.

[Condesce holds firm, forced to side-step to keep her balance when he kicks out, but her hand follows his to keep it from locking around her throat. Its extremely awkward, moving around in this body and its almost more difficult to keep balance on such a light frame when she's used to something so much heavier.

She tries to slam him against the wall again to disorient him, snarling back firmly.]

[The Empress doesn't relent, though she makes a point of keeping him still, rather than slamming him into the wall again.]

No. You will give it to me now. You are not in a position to bargain with me.

[cullionfish]

I will certainly make it your bloody house if you talk back to me one more time.

[As if to accent her point, she wraps her hand around the knife he had reached for earlier, but she doesn't bring it towards him.

Despite the talking back, he was cooperating, after all. It seems to calm her temper.]

A name, creature. For you, your species, and our captor.

[That last attempted dig entices an amused chuckle from her -- what's meant to sound benign only makes the air around the troll more tense.]

Well my dear, you'll be happy to know that I wouldn't kill you for results.

[She pulls the knife up to dig under his chin as a warning.]

This kill would be for crossing me unnecessarily. That would be something I would advise against. But seeing as you've opted to be cooperative and useful...

[She then drops him entirely and steps to the side to give him a bit of breathing room. Never once does she expose her back, nor dispose of the knife. For all Giles may have dealt with creatures more than human, Condesce has dealt with assassination attempts for hundreds of years.]

I think I will be the judge of that.

[Still, his gentility was something she hadn't experienced from an alien race before. That, of course, was because she was always out to conquer them, where here she was stuck on equal ground.

She smiles that fake smile again in his direction.]

But as I've said previously. I've no reason to endanger you, so long as you stay out of my way. I believe we'll get along swimmingly, otherwise.

[That little catch he added at the end about it not being a threat means he's learning! Good. But the information causes a crease in her brow in any case.

She gives him the once over again, assessing him and his worth in one condescending, sweeping glance]

Hmph. For now. We'll see how long that lasts.

[...she's not putting that knife back.]

[They'll have a staring contest for a moment before she finally strides away to explore on her own. As far as she's concerned, she's gotten all the useful information out of him.

And yes, she's taking the knife with her. Despite turning her back on him, she's very alert...in case he does have a projectile weapon of some sort.]
