Kim's Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese Cloud

CAKE:

Prepare a box of cake mix according to package directions.
Cool 15 minutes and remove from pan.
Using a bread knife....
For 8" cakes - slice each cake into 2 rounds. (4 layers)
For 9" cakes - slice the thickest cake into 2 rounds. (3 layers)

TOPPING: (best when made shortly before serving)

* 1 pkg cream cheese (easier at room temperature)
* 1/4 cup sugar
Mash cream cheese and sugar with a fork or heavy spoon until softened, then beat with electric mixer until smooth/creamy.
* 1 container of Cool Whip
* 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Add to the cream cheese and mix carefully until smooth - too much mixing will deflate the Cool Whip.

Top each cake layer with topping (top only - leave sides plain) - let it ooze out of the layers a bit.

Decorate the top with chocolate shavings (1 candy bar).I used a box grater - best to grate into a large deep bowl or the shavings fly all over the place.
