I love work voice. and that almost everyone has one.
That our regular method of speech is somehow not good enough to conduct business with.
I love listen to people switch into work voice, and wonder about those people who don't have one.
I have a great work voice. If you have ever called me during business hours, there would be no doubt in your mind that I was at work.
or, I use a ridiculous voice in my personal conversations. Which, now that I am thinking about, may be more of the truth. It would explain my embarrassment whenever I get caught mimicking someone else's accent or way of speech. (I am taken with the Minnesota "o", and the Midwest "a".)
My father has a great work voice. He retired in May, and one of things I wonder about is his limited opportunities to use work voice. It seems a shame that a voice that good would fall silent. I liked calling him at work, cause his greeting was all business, but then he would switch and talk like my Dad. It made me feel loved.
