I am not too proud to admit that we will often use every clean bath towel in the house before washing any of them.
There was a time when we had close to 30 bath towels. This made the periodic washing of the towels a herculean task, requiring many hours & a good portion of the available fresh water in the region. Fortunately, those dark days are behind us.
These days, we don't launder towels more frequently because we have learned our lesson, we launder the towels more frequently because we got rid of all but 6 of them.
Six is a good number of bath towels to own. It's enough to allow a house guest to have two towels, if they so choose. But not so many as to become a mountain in the closet where dirty towels are tossed.
Its a work in progress, this life of only six bath towels... For on some mornings, when the last bath towel has already been retired, I reach for a hand towel and dry off as if I were a giant.
