tuesday 5/10:
depart seattle. i've packed it all into one backpack.
first flight I go seattle to chicago to london.
none of the inflight movies interest me - for some reason on airplanes I always want mindless stuff. I remember Jill and dibble_dabble snickering at me on my last europe trip - they thought it was funny that I was watching charlie's angels 2. Sideways interested me but to me it's not a good movie for the plane. I watched an episode of Coupling and The Office then slept. The Oiffice episode was Season 2, episode 4, one of my favorites. I think I picked a bad seat because beverage service skipped me twice.

wednesday 5/11:
arrive london, transfer airports. I look for food - the "coronation chicken sandwich" which you can only get in england. they don't have it but I find irish stew in the faux irish pub in the airport. Faux because they're playing "under the bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The flight to Ljubljana is shorter than I expected - under 2 hours. Drazen and Maja meet me at the airport, we go hang out at Drazen's favorite coffeehouse. Ljubljana is such a great looking city. Drazen agreed to get tickets for SW for opening day, and told Maja it might be more of a guy thing. She acted disappointed (this was all before I arrived) and so Drazen decided to quiz her. She couldn't name Han Solo's sidekick, but it looks like we'll give her a pass and allow her to come anyway.

I am staying with Maja's father, which is great because it's very central... and about 2 blocks from Celica, the hostel where we stayed last time, so I have a good idea where I am and how to get around. Maja was asked by her father to warn me about the possibilities of "junkies" stopping by, junkies he has befriended through his research (he teaches criminology, I think). So if they stop by while I'm there I'm not to let them in, I have to tell them to come back later.

I am posting this from a cyber cafe which has a large train set in the middle of it. I think it's an art project. The internet access is free. On my left are some Slovenians, on my right some French. But we all sing along (in English) when "Bohemian Rhapsody" comes on.
