coupla things...

As mentioned in my last post . . . the sound I was hearing was Tang getting into trouble.  I just tip-toed into my bedroom and discovered Tang climbing from my bed to my bedside table, practically attacking my Coke can!  WTF?  You wouldn't think that in the bathroom he has two bowls full of water to sate himself!  No . . . he has to go after MY Coke!  Smart boy huh?  That's exactly why I made sure my glass of wine was kept far away from him earlier tonight!!

So the weather report is calling for snow/ice/wintry mix tonight.  Should begin around 3:00am I hear.  First of all I don't believe it.  Second of all, there is no way we'll miss school.  I distinctly remember last year we had a two hour delay only to show up in a school that had no heat and no power.  They didn't ice the steps to our shitty portables and didn't think a thing about how our poor kindergarten babies were going to get up the steps.  THEN we had to order burgers from Burger King FOR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL/STAFF because the kitchen staff couldn't cook!  The main building had NO HEAT, and this is a day where half of the town and most of Greenville has been/is out of power because of a huge ice storm.  And yet, we're at school.  Needless to say, nothing instructional was going on!  But on to this year:  Mr. Adams sent out an e-mail today reminding us the bad weather was in the forecast, we needed our phone chain information so we knew who to call, etc.  But then the kicker . . . even if there is a delay, teachers are expected to show up AT REGULAR TIME to SUPERVISE the kids that come anyway!!!  WTF?  I'm sorry, but if there is a need or a delay for KIDS, there is a need for a delay for ME!  And to top it off . . . I'm farther away than them, closer to the mountains, in an area that is usually known to get more bad weather.  No, I don't think I'll be showing up on time for anything!  Apparently an injured back is good for SOMETHING!  I've been needing to go to my urologist to drop off a sample for a few days.  The problem with that is that I'm only allowed to drop samples at 8;00am or lunchtime.  This means I'll have to go in to school late or leave early.  I've been putting it off and I ALMOST called in today to tell them I'd be late, but I felt bad.  Now that I know we're expected to show up on time regardless of weather, I'm glad I held out!  I told Mr. Adams today after SCRI that either way I would not be on time because I had to go to the doctor.  Mrs. Adair was informed before she left and I have everything ready for her.  There is no reason AT ALL for me to go early, and I'm not.

Today I took the kids out to recess as usual.  Today I was miserable.  I actually had two kids crying because it was so cold they wanted to go back in.  Honestly I did too, but not enough to have to entertain the hoodlums!!  I called my mom and told her that I now knew the reason that I fell in December.  That reason was to keep me from school in January!  In January 2006 I was kept in the hospital until the 27th and then after that I went to Union and stayed inside my house until February!  Meaning:  I was not subjected to January weather at all.  And this year I am unprepared.  Brrrr!!!!  I still remember the first day I went outside after being inside for a solid month.  The wind was unbearable.  Today. Was. Worse!  After today I think I'll relent and let the students stay inside.  Maybe we'll watch Ice Age 2 . . . Lord knows that if we go outside it'll feel as if we're part of the Ice Age!!

Tang is once again systematically pulling out every single one of his toys and spreading them out throughout the apartment.  I anticipate finding the majority of them in my bed.  Joy!
