weekly review

I must admit, it has been one hell of a week. For some reason, every day was a struggle. No, let me change that. Monday I went to school and was greeted with a bunch of monkeys and from then on out I didn't want to go back! I managed to drag myself there every day. I found out on Tuesday that Coggins was observed by a member of her ADEPT team. That only made me NOT want to go back even more. I somehow knew that if I went on Wednesday I would have an evaluation. At 6:37 I was still in bed contemplating a call-in. I somehow forced myself into going . . . only to be greeted by a substitute assistant. Why am I not surprised? And yes, Mrs. Strickland came to observe me. Great. The only bright point: I had a good lesson planned and I was just waiting on her to show up so I could use it. I managed to hit every point needed while having every problem under the sun occur. I had Dante literally RUNNING back and forth through the room, Latora with a bloody mouth, Ivy with low sugar . . . then Latora returning with her tooth to show off, Dante SCREAMING crying as the substitute led him out of the room to Mr. Salliewhite, need I go on? It was a rough observation but all in all, I think I handled it all.

Starting on Wednesday, something started happening to my class . . . they disappeared! I had about 21 on Wednesday, 18 on Thursday, and 17 today! I had to send Dante home with a fever of 102.6 yesterday, and Logan and Nisha (101) went home today. It's been crazy! Good news: Eliud (my Spanish speaking student that I can barely communicate with unless he's getting on my nerves) is supposed to be moving soon. Mrs. Adair is disappointed because "he is one of her favorites" but I'm just happy because he is a behavior issue, he doesn't follow simple directions that I KNOW he understands, he makes me look bad because I can't stop his behavior without sounding stern, and having 25 kids is ten times better than having 26 kids!

So on a good note, school-wise: I only have two more obsesrvations and one more interview and then I'm FINISHED with ADEPT!!

It's a long weekend. I'm thrilled. Any excuse to spend an extra day sleeping in and hanging out. Too bad I have to ruin that day off with study group.

I had a mini-meltdown on Tuesday, and I'm not even sure why. It was a year since my surgery. School was just crappy, the kids weren't cool. I didn't feel great. I had to go to class, which I hate because the teacher sucks. Then the class was unbearable and the teacher proved to be a complete and total dumbass. And that was just it for me. I freaked out. As soon as I got in the car I started crying and calling Mommy like a little baby. No answer. Bitch. So who did I call? Brandon. Of course. He did a good job of cheering me up. One of these days....

Wednesday, after my Tuesday meltdown, Mommy came to visit me. 1) She wanted to see my new living room setup. 2) She wanted to check on me. 3) We went shopping for decorative bowls at Target, which we DID NOT FIND! Talk about disappointed.

Yesterday the teachers of PV had Happy Hour at El Tejano. It wasn't quite the same as in the past. Meaning: No Coggins, Susie, or Rebecca. Instead it ended up being Kori, Della, Ashley, and Valerie. It was the most fun I've had in ages, even if they did embarrass me by talking about dirty partiest! Happy Hour was cut short by the arrival of Bryan. We had dinner plans for Thursday night and I wasn't about to ditch him at the last minute. We went to Saskatoon because it was the one place he remembered from freshman year at Clemson. Though he was a bit disappointed that the menu wasn't as "strange' as it was back in 2001, it was a nice dinner, if not a bit pricey. I satisfied myself with a piece of $14.00 chicken. A bit much but he footed the bill so why not? Come to find out . . . the price of the appetizer matched the price of my entree!! Ah well, dinner dates are fun!

Tomorrow I'm having lunch with Susie at O'Cha (after she takes the dreaded GRE). Then I will have MORE visitors: Mary Jo and Nana are coming to finish the curtains now that I've been here for 3.5 months. Not that I'm complaining or anything.... :-p
