Recapping

I kinda got behind after all of my rants last week. Rest assured: I can keep ranting but not tonight. Tonight I don't feel like it.

Friday
I had a LONG discussion with Mr. Adams about the issues with Mrs. Adair. We discussed my expectations, her duties, my centers, etc. I am happy to report that I am NOT overreacting and that he DOES agree with everything I said. He also mentioned that the pressure at home is probably getting to her here, and that it's hard to be a teacher at one time and then switch to assisting. That's all well and good, and I DO understand but that still doesn't make my job any easier.

Then RIGHT after my lengthy talk with him I ran into Mrs. Nichols and she informed me that Mrs. Adair asked her if the new 4K assistant position was filled yet (this happened on Thursday). Mrs. Nichols said not yet and Mrs. Adair replied that she thought she was going to just ask to be moved to that room and have Mr. Adams hire ME a new aid. HAHAHA! I WOULD take it personally EXCEPT I know that she won't do any better in 4K AND the 4K teacher is refusing to take her either! Mrs. Adair is stuck in the past and has yet to embrace modern teaching practices. Her bad...not mine.

Annie and I took off for drinks at El Tejano after work but both of us had plans and we had to scatter pretty early. I came home to quickly pack my bags, drop off my books at the library, and then head downtown to meet JD for sushi at Wasabi at 7:00. YUMMY!! I was in high spirits and chattered nonstop. After dinner we headed to Port City Java for coffee and sat at the outside tables watching the people and talking until 10:00. I finally realized the time and admitted that it was time for me to head to Clemson. Ian was waiting!

I got to Clemson soon after 11:00 and just sat at Ian's and chilled with him, his roommate, and a neighbor. It was good, lowkey fun. I happened to come in at the end of Revenge of the Nerds. Humorous movie, really. No drinking for Jenn (yet again). Can you believe it?

Saturday
Susie moved out. That's the official news. I wasn't there but I got the texts. Lucky for her, the movers came early and worked quick. They were unpacked in Greenwood by 10:30!!

I got up and headed downtown. Mommy gave me special permission to use the credit card to buy my Christmas present. :) I've wanted a nice Clemson related picture for awhile. With Susie moving out and taking her stadium picture I decided I needed it sooner rather than later. I was going to buy the sunset picture by Louis Jordan but when I got there I fell in love with another print. I wish I could post a picture of it! It's nicer, more "professional." Not a Clemson scene so much, but a print of Tillman and a tree that's branches are kinda morphed into looking like a tiger. It has a cool quote around it too . . . it just screams Jenn really! It'll look great in the new living room . . . and I still plan to get the Louis Jordan picture at a later date.

I also got Pip his Clemson jersey! So cute! I didn't get one for Tang because even the small looked too big! :(

I walked into nearly downtown shop looking at Clemson merchandise like I'd never been there. Silly. Like I needed to do that! I ended up running into an old friend from sophomore year and we spent a lot of time talking. THEN walking back to my car to head back I saw a truck slowly pass by. Then turn and wait at the stop sign. PINKY! I ran into him last time I was there for Ian's birthday so it wasn't a shock to see him. He came to the car and we spent about an hour catching up. Yes, this made me late for the game! By this time I had decided I was going to head back to Greenville to go downtown and hang out with Coggins and Company. Ian wanted me to come watch it at his friend's place, Pinky wanted me to meet him somewhere. I took off for Greenville!

I got to Coggins' place in time to catch half of the third and the fourth quarter. And yes, BOTH overtimes. Even though Clemson lost in double overtime (second time in two years), it was still a great game and a lot of fun to watch. Lots of people at the house, cold beer, good friends, good times. :)

After the game we all piled into the cars to head downtown for dinner and the USC game. We wanted to go to Wild Wings but with a two hour wait that was outta the question. Enter Jenn with her bright ideas and we ended up eating at the outside tables next door at Barleys. Good food and still a lot of fun. We got updates about the game and had a much easier time of talking than we would have inside Wild Wings. I had a chance to really talk to Justin (Coggins' cousin) and I really like/respect him. Long story.

After dinner the families left and we went to Wild Wings and headed upstairs. By this time I decided to lay off the alcohol and just hang out. I met Kimberly, Mrs. Hobbs' daughter. REALLY liked her. :) We watched the game, had a couple of drinks, sang, laugh, had a good time. Around 2:00 we called a cab and all six of us piled in (Blakely, Will, Jennifer, her friend, me, and Justin). THAT was an interesting drive with half of them drunk and half of us sober. As soon as we got back to their house I headed home for my first night living alone!

Sunday
Had to go to Union. I got to pick up my boys and go to lunch with Nana for Grandparents Day. But she paid. Kinda defeated the purpose.

Annie came over Sunday night so we could plan. We threw together a lot of ideas and in my opinion this year's week is better than last years! Todd showed up . . . I haven't seen him in over a month! He didn't even know Susie moved. :( Even though I was glad to see him I felt bad cause I didn't have time to really talk . . . I had to get everything ready for the week!

Monday
The day was pretty smooth actually. Mrs. Adair didn't mention 4K. Whatever. I'm not dealing with it. At all. I stayed at school until 6:45 working. Which brings me to my next funny of the day:

Mrs. Adair asked me sometime during the day: "Wouldn't it be nice if we could stay a little later on Friday and get everything ready for Monday?"

I just kinda smiled.

Then again: "I think so. Why don't we just go ahead and plan to do that. We'll stay a little later on Fridays and get all of this stuff knocked outta the way for Monday."

Again I didn't reply.
1. I plan during the weekend. Yes, it would be nice to have it done on Friday but I spend all week getting ready for the next day and don't have time for the NEXT week until THAT WEEKEND.

2. I STAY LATE EVERY DAMN DAY EXCEPT FRIDAY. If she wants to stay around, that's fine. But I'll be DAMNED if she's going to think that I'm staying on Friday! Friday's belong to ME! Crazy ass woman.

Tuesday
Today was great. Honestly, everything is catching up with me. I almost couldn't get up. I didn't even take the dogs out I was so tired. I drove to school and almost fell asleep. I was going to go in and ask them to call me a sub but I saw the one I wanted was already there so I didn't bothers. Others noticed and suggested that I need to stop working so late and carrying so much home. Yeah right.

Then Mrs. Burton came in to observe. She caught us wiggling and moving around, then discussing centers, and then the actual centers.

Then Mrs. Hobbs came in almost right after. She was doing observing and reflecting. We were in centers the entire time she was there. She was pleased.

I got glowing reviews from both of them. Mrs. Burton said that she could tell I was spending a lot of time on centers and that the effort was paying off and that she loved it. Mrs. Hobbs' pretty much reiterated that and then said that what I was doing was perfect. I asked what about small groups (because I haven't been focusing on that this week) and she said that I didn't even need them YET. Which is what I had decided. So now we're just letting them choose centers, take stuff wherever they want with their cards, and if I know of something someone needs to do, they are getting one-on-one attention.

Mrs. Hobbs has had a long conversation with Mr. Adams about my assistant. Surprised? Me neither. He's not pleased with HER . . . he's fine with me. Next week he's going to have a meeting with the assistants to outline their job responsibilities. I can't wait! That's exactly what I requested and it's getting recognized FINALLY. Thanks Mrs. Hobbs! I feel bad for the assistants that DO know what to do and that do a great job. Funny though: Mrs. Ward said she hated having to do it, but what made it worse is that Mrs. Adair will be looking around silently blaming everyone else without realizing it's her that he's talking to!

:) Anyway, after my glowing reviews by Hobbs and Burton I decided to reward myself. I got out of school by 4:20, didn't bring anything home, didn't go to the library, didn't do any school work AT ALL. I came in, took the dogs out, and took a 3 hour nap! Then I got up, fixed food, and took a long hot bath and finished my book. It's been a relaxing JENN night . . . not spent on school. I deserved it!

Susie came over after school today to finish picking up stuff and clean her room. I meant to see her but I was sleeping. I probably would have missed her if I had been awake though cause I was supposed to go to dinner with the Coggins sisters. Oops. Naptime called!!

Bad news: Not everyone got their applications and financial aid forms ready in time so the class won't start next week as originally planned. Too bad! :( So: new starting date for SWU masters course is roughly October 17th (I think). Let's keep our fingers that it all works out. But ya know, it's a good thing. Gives me a less stressful time of packing and moving AND I get to keep my $125 registrations fee until after the next payday!!
