well well well...

So look at the time.  And look ata the date.  And think.  Yes, this is it.  This is technically the first day of school.  **DING DING DING** it's time to start round two!!

Today went smoothly and is thankfully over.  Phase One complete.  After tossing and turning all night I got up and was at school by 8:30 (even though we didn't have to be there until 9-9:30.  Yes, dorkdom.  I just love the place!  I went by Wal-Mart to check for blue contact paper and got nowhere.  WTF?  How difficult is it to stock BLUE contact paper?  Apparently it's impossible.  After stuffing all of my books into the closet in my classroom Mr. Parks came in to fix my collapsed closet and I had to remove every single book.  Gag.  I did it with a smile.  I wasn't too fond of working while he was in there so I was relieved when it was time to pile into the car with JCoggins and Barton to go to GCO for our TEAM meeting.  This meeting was also BS if you ask me.  Just flowcharts of what happens if we don't completely make "ace" TEAM.  Apparently they can make you re-do your first year and THEN do TEAM AGAIN and if you STILL can't do it THEN they kick you outta the profession!  Whoa....that's heavy stuff.  But for the most part, the meeting was pointless.  We got a timeline of what was due when and when evaluators would be coming around, a list of interview questions that we can fill out the night before, etc.  We spent a great deal of time going over how to make our LRP.  Uh, we did that in college.  We did that LAST year.  Waste of time.  Totally.  So although I know it's going to suck, I'm sure I'll be okay.  Just like student teaching right?  RIGHT!

After that it was back to PV to work on the classroom some more.  Everything up and out of the floor and presentable for parents.  It isn't 100% ready but it was presentable.  Mrs. Adair was nice enough to come clean and work some, even while I was at the TEAM meeting and grabbing lunch.  I have a list of things for her to do so I'm sure she'll be quite busy in the near future.  I wish she had stayed for Open House but she didn't.  Ah well, not much she could have done anyway.  It's been good to have her around a couple of days helping this year, and I've really liked/valued her opinions, but I'm a tad bit nervous about tomorrow.  She has never been an assistant so she doesn't know the morning routine.  Which means I am expected the train her exactly how I want her.  Such a daunting task.  At least that was one thing OFF of my plate last year, because Mrs. Latimer knew the morning drill.  I wrote some quick notes before leaving the room today so hopefully all will run smoothly tomorrow.  Last year I had a full plan with times, etc. all drawn up.  This year I'm winging it completely.  I have some books pulled out, I know my rules, I know what time lunch is.  I'll survive.

What's weird is that I'm not even nervous.  I'm just not.  I know that I'll make it through.

OOHHHH....I do need to mention one bit of parent gossip that just burned me up today!  A past student's annoying ass mother came into my classroom today to tell me that her niece was in my room this year and that she behaved badly and was nothing like her daughter.  I tried to smile and wave it off but she continued!  She then went on to say that the child would go and spit on other's children, etc.  THEN she had the nerve to say "She's not as bad as Dante though."  NO SHE DIDN'T!  I think it's pretty clear, my feelings for Mr. Dante.  I quickly plastered on a huge (real) smile and said "Oh well I LOVE Dante!  I specially requested to have him again this year!"  And I was being genuine too.  And then the psycho offered me her number and any help that I would need since it was HER niece.  Some people you just can't get through to I suppose.  I told her child's current teacher and Mr. Adams and they were both blown away by the woman.  I say GOOD RIDDANCE!  Even though her child was easy to teach and VERY smart, SHE isn't worth her mother!  Gag.

Okay, 12:38 AM.  I haven't taken my meds.  I haven't taken the dogs out.  Gotta kick myself into gear.  GOODNIGHT!  Just think, in 12 hours over half of my first day of my second year will be over!  WOOOOHOOOO!!!
