taking bets....

Last night while Rebeclynne was over "planning" I asked her and Susie to make bets on how many days Latimer would show up. She has ten (well now nine) days left until she takes her extended break for her surgery. I was ready to guarantee that she would be out. Susie bets on her missing two days, Rebeclynne bets on her missing three days. Well, I showed up at school today for hall duty (I HATE hall duty) and got absolutely NOTHING done before time to pick up the kids. Can I just say this is classic because I haven't been there to get anything ready. Well, I notice nothing has been picked up from my box. I just KNEW she wasn't showing up. I waited for awhile longer before going to the office to ask Balcombe (because God forbid she come TELL me or anything) and sure enough she has called in sick. WHAT A SURPRISE!! She must have decided that I got two days off last week so she deserved a break this week. It's just SO annoying, I SO knew this was going to happen! Then Balcombe tells me they had found me a sub (poor Mrs. White) but that she now had to go help in day care. Why do I always get screwed here?? Luckily Jacob's mom was there today so she came to my room and stayed until a little after 10:00. At that time Mrs. Adair showed up for day care and Mrs. White came to my room. The rest of the day went by as usual. La ti da. Nothing was done from last week that is usually taken care of. Meaning: I spent most of centers stuffing their folders AFTER I graded their papers that were just stuffed in my folder at my computer. AHHH!! I wish I was teaching first grade just so I didn't rely on an assistant at all! I mean what's the ponit? She's NEVER there. She gets paid 1/3 of what I do, I don't know how she lives missing as many days as she does. She HAS to be getting her pay docked. Whatever, not my problem. Then right when my break began Mr. Adams saw me in the hall and pulled me aside to inform me that (again, SURPRISE SURPRISE) Mrs. Latimer had called and wouldn't be in again tomorrow. WTF? I sighed in exasperation and he asked me if that was happy, sad, or none of his business. I told him I was annoyed and told him about our bets about how many more days she would miss. Mrs. Hobbs said maybe she wouldn't come back in January..... Yeah right, like I could be that lucky. I mean, why would she NOT show up? She's not doing anything anyway and she doesn't get into any trouble so why not keep coming whenever she feels like it? Whatever. I know I shouldn't complain so much but it's just enough to make me want to pull my hair out. It's so unprofessional. How can anyone be so uncaring??

Tomorrow I have to worry about 1) if they found me a sub and 2) SACS accreditation. At the end of the day I asked Mr. Adams if he had me a sub yet. He said they hadn't worried about that yet. WHAT?? I told him he better get on it! That's another problem with this school!

Rebeclynne is having a hard time too. She's getting upset at school a lot lately. I wish they would all back off of her and leave her alone! If they push her away they'll certainly be losing a great teacher and that'd be a BIG mistake for them! She's already itching to get back to Greenville and teach 4K. They better watch it!

After school today I went to PayLess to pay Mrs. Rodriguez for the wreck. Glad that's out of the way. Then dinner at El Tejano with the girls. Rebeclynne needed it. :) Also, we had to make up for Friday!!

I'm just ready for Thanksgiving break. I know I just had a long break with my mouth surgery but now I'm ready for another one!
