My surgery is over and I'm alive to tell all about it. We got there about 30 minutes early (just as I knew we would) and they didn't call me back until like 11:45 or 12:00. That really sucked. Anyway, they stuck the little monitor thingys to me and then they got ready to "numb" my skin and put in the IV. That is by far the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. First they "numbed" a vein in my hand. Meaning, they prick me with a needle (wasn't bad) and then inject some sort of medicine. The medicine burns SOOOO badly I came halfway off the table. But oh wait, they couldn't find a vein. Then they heard one pop but couldn't get the blood to come out. Try again. They tried the inside of my arm. Same routine: prick, horrible burning medicine, lost vein. They almost called in Dr. Voelkert but she wanted to try one more. Close to inside my elbow she finally found a vein that worked. Then they covered me all up and injected more medicine to "relax" me (aka: KNOCK ME OUT). That medicine was super cold and felt funny going in my veins. We talked a bit before everything got hazy. I found out I am allowed to take my Ambien so that's pretty cool. :) Then all is black. I woke up with a start. I was scared and mumbly because I thought they weren't finished and they hadn't realized it wore off. Apparently that was okay though cause I could't feel anything and they were about to finish. I am amazed at how clear I was when I woke up. When I had my wisdom teet out I couldn't walk, I barely remembered anything. When I woke up here I asked them about the Ambien again and also about my birth control. In case you're wondering, birth control is okay again seven days after you take the last pill. Just a little FYI! ;) My Nana was nice enough to bring me home and sit with me here instead of making me go to her house. I slept for about 2-3 hours and then up again. Mom came home with mouth surgery friendly food. Rebeclynne, Sarah, and Bethi have called to check on me. Thanks friends :)
Random aside: Rebeclynne saw Mrs. Latimer and Latimer told her about the note and that she thought I was mad at her. Rebeclynne said no, I wasn't mad but that she needed to start rearrangements with me first. Latimer said she never meant any harm and Rebeclynne told her we knew that but from now on just check with me first. When Rebeclynne went in to check on the class Mrs. White was talking and Mrs. Latimer wasn't being mean at least! So hopefully all will be well with the world on Monday. Fingers crossed, prayers prayed!
