Thank you very much, Sera Gamble.

This is why I don't like you.

“When it comes to Supernatural, our philosophy is that everyone moves in and out and weaves in and out of the story, obviously with the exception of Sam and Dean. We love Misha. We love and adore the character of Castiel. His character developed to this extent and went in this ( Read more... )

I... I had to stop reading halfway. She made some good optimistic points but I have to disagree on a LOT of things just as much. I'll probably read it again later when I'm at a much comfortable computer (squinting at this notebook doesn't allow me to rant properly lol).

For the most part, though, I disagree about the "in love" angle. Because as much as I love my OTP Destiel ship, I refuse to use eros as the core of reasoning. Yes, Cas loves Dean. Yes, Dean loves Cas. But Cas was not asking for some declaration of undying love. He never did, not once. All he wanted was for Dean to trust him that one time, to act on the friendship Dean likes to throw in Cas' face, the family line that Dean has thrown in Cas' face.

Because as much as Dean's TOLD him about it, Cas never felt it. I know Dean's probably the last person on earth to express affection openly, and Cas would've known that and it's why he never asked. But we're talking about TRUST here. Cas had trusted Dean when all of his world and his existence were at the brink of death, all Cas had asked was for Dean to stand down and let Cas fight this war. And Dean never stepped up to it. Instead, he pushed Cas away some more. Even after saving the woman he dreamed of being with because of a perfect family they could have had, Dean just told him it didn't change anything.

And I'm just.. no. Cas didn't ask for much. Dean never gave, not even a little of his understanding.

Also this:

"Castiel will turn back to the sweet, innocent Castiel "

It's slowly turning into a peeve of mine the way fandom sees Castiel as this "sweet and innocent" babe. He may be innocent, I'll give it that much, but sweet? No. Cas was and will always be a soldier and a warrior. He would use his mind first, his heart second. The way this war turned out to be, and how he made his choices practically shoved that down.

This is the guy who will "fix" problems by killing the source, by taking the source of the problem out of the equation entirely. Cas is ruthless and merciless once he's given a specific target to smite. He's scarily efficient when he's fully charged. Just because he was awkward in the human world and may pass off as adorable to humans, does not mean that's Cas. That's just Cas out of his element. And his element is the battlefield.
