“The All Blue.”
She’d heard about it before, through the whispers of children and the laughter of barkeeps. But she hadn’t paid much attention to the legendary ocean until she met Sanji, until she saw the far-off and inspired expression he wore when he said its name.
She found a book on it; it wasn’t very long and all the descriptions were imagined, but the illustrations were beautifully detailed and they stuck with her. She dreamed about it. Dreamed of standing on the deck of the ship, watching the colorful scales of the various, exotic fish as they swam around in the ocean water below. Dreamed of Sanji, beside her, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the rail in excitement and laughed before diving in. She left the book in the galley for him that morning, after breakfast.
A rumor, a myth, a legend. The All Blue was much like her own object of desire - the True History - and thusly, she came away from her research feeling closer to the blonde chef. Their goals were so similar that she felt they were intimately connected, in a way. She imagined him fluttering and flailing with delight if she told him that, and she was sorely tempted to do so. Instead, she simply smiled and let him coat her hand in kisses as he thanked her profusely for the book and promised her a special sweet treat of her choice.
She found other ways of revealing her revelation to the cook, such as showing more of an interest in his dishes that required fish and chuckling in earnest at his jokes. She wasn’t sure if he noticed the changes or not, but it didn’t really matter in the end.
“I hope you find it, the All Blue.”
She took pride in the big grin he gave her in response.
“Thank you, Robin-chan. I hope you’re with me when I do.”
Her heart surprised her by skipping a beat. Maybe he had noticed, after all.
