But it's not impossible.
I, Paul Mitchell, heretofore pledge to do my utmost to protect myself and my environment as much as possible. I'm familiar with several peoples' opinions on the silliness of the green movement (mainly from the conservative right-wingers), but let me remind you that, especially if you believe in a creating God, man/woman has polluted the world and his/her body with man-made chemicals and agents that don't need to be there. Aye, there's the rub - the ingredients that we need are already provided for us. Granted, absolutely, there are some necessities that western medicine provides us, and I'm not going against science at all. I'm only stating that common sense should show humanity that we don't need all of that "stuff," when there are natural ways of doing things that render us healthier. Not only healthier, but happier.
The problem with Oklahoma is there is not as much a sense of community when it comes to the environment. Yes, there are places and people and organizations in which I can plug myself, and I plan to start branching out as soon as possible to explore my options, but these people and places are extremely hard to find in the buckle of the right-wing Bible belt, I'll have you know.
I've been living in a bubble all of my life, and finally I've woken up and realize that part of what I feel myself called to do, for myself, is to protect my health and the environment around me from any harm I could possibly render it. I've always felt a calling towards Nature and protecting the environment, but I had never broken out of the bubble in which I had been fostered to take an active role. Well, starting now, ladies and gentlemen, there will be a change of pace.
I shall keep updates of my greenness, and not only that, of the steps I am taking to improve my overall physical health through improving my eating habits and exercising.
