House star Peter Jacobson has claimed that his character Chris Taub is an "egomaniac".
The physician recently discovered that his wife was involved in a relationship with an online friend in the Fox medical drama.
"I think his ego is instantly struck," Jacobson told the Los Angeles Times. "It never really occured to Taub that something like that would happen, and that just shows what an... egomaniac he is."
However, he added: "I don't like to act him that way. I think he's just a proud man and a talented doctor."
The actor also suggested that House and Cuddy's own romance is good for the show.
"I know there's a battle waging out there over whether or not it's the right thing to be done," he admitted. "House is who he is. He lies and he's manipulative. To watch him struggle with that in a relationship that's working is... great and [provides] fodder for lots of comedy."
