Depression...

I've been in a deep depression recently. It's seemed almost impossible to journal, or write emails, or do pretty much anything. I've frittered away my days on Twitter, Facebook, and other time-wasting sites. I disabled Leechblock, which had the sites blocked most of the day and off at 11 pm. Yesterday I talked to my psychiatrist and he thinks I should see a different doctor to get a second opinion on what should be done. I have violent reactions to medications so we have to be careful.

What else? If it wasn't for memes and the snowflake challenge I wouldn't be posting at all. Thank goodness, New York City is pretty covid-compliant. The other night we went to the Metropolitan Opera (Jeff is a culture nut). I had proof of vaccination but not proof of booster, which I got around Christmas. There was a help tent set up. They kept trying to input my info into the vaccine app but it kept failing and saying "try again later". We both thought I wouldn't be able to get into Rigoletto. Finally I was given permission to go in.* Theaters, opera houses, etc. require you keep masked, and keep it over your nose. We went to The Music Man starring Hugh Jackman and ushers were carrying very large signs saying "Mask Up". The ushers will come down and warn you if you take them off. We bought the preview tickets months ago. Hugh was fantastic--I think his singing voice was a little ragged, but the energy he and the rest of the cast expend is amazing! It's the largest cast I've ever seen. 40 actors, quite a few of them children. They danced as much as the adults, and as good. Sutton Foster was also excellent.

We've definitely been spending a lot of money, which has me a little nervous. We've managed to be debt free for several years. Since we're rent-stabilized and not paying current rent (it's hard to explain--we pay plenty but the landlord can't raise it except for a percentage set by the Rent Board every year to two years) we had to buy our own dishwasher. It needed to be replaced, as well as our crappy particle board vanity with the broken doors and tiny sink. Rather than have yet another one, we sprang for a beautiful pedestal sink that was on deep discount. I got a tall one, which is great because we don't have to bend double.

Our cat Cleo is hanging in there. I can't tell you how many times we've thought it was the end, only to have her rally. She's 19!

* After all that, I fell asleep. Bad cuddyclothes, bad!

fml, the blues, it's all about me, personal, drugs
