Challenge #1

In your own space, update your fandom information!

There's not a whole lot to add from last year. I'm still in the Jeeves/Wooster fandom, which seems to ebb and flow. I've been reading the collected letters of P.G. Wodehouse. And I'm considering posting some short essays to Tumblr and about his writing, the evolving relationship of Bertie and Jeeves in canon, etc. There are several Discords to play in, as well as one devoted to British TV comedy.

I got very, very involved in the Prodigal Son fandom. It's a TV show starring Michael Sheen as a serial killer and Tom Payne as his traumatized son. It was completely bonkers. The fandom was extremely intense and very intimate. Unfortunately, it was canceled after two seasons last May. Not only were the fans caught by surprise, so was the cast. I was part of a fandom campaign to save the show. I still hope it will emerge again. I was absolutely inconsolable when the announcement was made. One Discord fan wrote, "I've cried myself into a migraine". As with many canceled shows, the fandom has dispersed. It reminds you of how transactional fandom relationships are, unless you can forge a real friendship, online or otherwise. I didn't read or write fic for it. Like Supernatural, I got what I wanted from the show. I've fallen out of that fandom.

I've also been having fun in the What We Do In The Shadows fandom. It's more or less a playground. I'm not someone who gets madly effusive in situations like that the way younger fans do. "YOU'RE MY TWIN! UWU!" etc. I love love love the show. I also don't read much fic, but I have some tiny cracky ideas.

I've kind of kept in loose touch with the House fandom. But to be honest, the deaths of nightdogbarks and really took the wind out of my sails. Live Journal was crucial to the fandom when the show was on. We had discussions, contests, flame wars, etc. There aren't many places for actual discussions of things. Tumblr, Twitter, etc. don't lend themselves to more than one pithy line.
