A few mornings ago, I woke up and Jeff said, "how did you sleep through that?" "What?"
I went to the window and there were at least six firetrucks and two ambulances on 106 Street, and on Broadway. The road was blocked off on all sides. I didn't really get what had happened, until Jeff pointed out that the building across the street had had a major fire. When I walked Fletcher some hours later I took pictures.

Nobody was in the building. For the past two years, the restaurant on the bottom is vacant, after several tried and failed. The top two floors were a gym for many years. It's been closed since April. Apparently the owner was selling off gym equipment. The basic supposition is that it was arson. The landlord is a slumlord, and can probably make a huge profit off of the insurance. This being on a corner lot at a major thoroughfare, any new developer is probably going to build a huge tower. We've had a spectacular view downtown so I guess that'll be gone next year.
