Corona Chronicles

If there was anything interesting to report, I'd do so. Life goes on, pretty much the same day after day. Jeff's working M-F more or less 9-5, which helps give us a structure. It's been hard to be motivated. The news every day is just such a fucking disaster. Every day, Governor Cuomo gives a briefing and has to read the death toll. Oh, goody, only 340 people died since yesterday! A mere bagatelle! There's just this low-level ambient stress constantly. Every night at 7 pm our neighbors applaud, blow horns and bang pots to celebrate our essential workers. It's nice, but New York isn't getting funding from the government because we're a blue state. Today Cuomo gave an immensely moving speech about being Americans, and showed a huge board covered with masks that people have sent from all around the country. Apparently thousands come in every day. None of them are medical masks but we all need them!

However, the flowers are blooming and the sky has at times been spectacular.

There are people who don't bother with masks or social distancing. These are the people who collect cans for a living. A can collector can make $400/week easily, probably a lot more. With nobody in my little park, they've spread out, to say the least. I've never seen so many bags of cans!

Most people are wearing masks, now.  Inside the stores, most have taped six feet apart signs to the floor. I don't know what it's going to be like once the warm weather is more consistent. It's been hit or miss, mostly miss.

It's been 10 days since I wrote in here, and I couldn't tell you anything of any note that's happened. Discord has been pretty dead, at least the parts where I'm allowed. I've been fighting for weeks with my prescription insurance plan, and it's sensationally dull to tell. Suffice to say I got dropped by mistake and now I'm writing to my congressman's office to help out. For now, I don't have prescription drug insurance. Especially great to have that problem now!

One hobby I've pursued is writing biographies for IMDB. When I run across an actor or actress who only has a two-line bio, I research them and write the bio. I'm a registered member so I can do that. Sometimes it takes a lot of work to run down obscure references and long-gone interviews. I also fix broken links to contemporaneous New York Times reviews.
