Damn, I keep meaning to write about Happy Fun Time Shelter In Place!
For me, the worst part isn't even the isolation, although that's awful. It's that there are no people anywhere except on TV! One or the other of us walk Fletcher three times a day. When I take him out, the only other people out are dog owners. We never acknowledge each other. I tried today and got a pronounced non-response. And I was social distancing! Living in NYC, you're constantly aware of crowds, crowds, crowds. Now I can jaywalk across our formerly dangerous intersection. Everything's closed.

Last week my BFF took a turn for the worse, and had to be taken to the hospital and put on a ventilator. I talked to her husband yesterday. Once a patient goes in, nobody can be with them until they go out again, assuming they're still alive. I spent a lot of time these past few days crying. However, she's doing better! Her oxygen levels are higher. She'll have to kept on the ventilator through this week, more or less. Most patients are on a ventilator from 3-4 days. COVID patients are on 11-21 days! If I never hear the word "ventilators" again it will be too soon. The lying orange-faced piece of shit in the White House will not send states the supplies they need, even though our nurses and doctors are wearing garbage bags for lack of anything else. It makes me want to vomit with rage.
Jeff's been kept busy with his job, thank goodness. Over the weekend he just collapsed. Last night I was feeling extremely anti-social,so I passed up a Zoom gathering of other writers in favor of watching "The Crown" with Jeff. We're watching Season 3, which is where we started. When that's finished we'll go to the beginning. It's soooo good. All of the cast is marvelous, particularly the actor who plays Charles. He's perfect, apologetic body language and all. British friends, what do you think of it? Does it pander to the royal family? Is the Queen represented fairly, or are they being too nice? I broke down and bought the $300 Jeeves and Wooster DVD set. I can't get a haircut, or get my shoes repaired or get my eyebrows waxed, but I can watch Stephen Fry being sexy as hell in S3!
His job gives us both a necessary structure. He starts working at 8:30, by which time I have to be up, showered and dressed so he can have the bedroom. I walk the dog etc., we have lunch. In the afternoon if he has a break, he takes out the dog. He finishes 5-5:30 and I have dinner ready at 6. Then usually a walk together and then Netflix, and I take out Fletcher before bed.
Fletcher is a nervous wreck! He knows something is off. I'd thought he'd be calmer with the quiet streets but it's the opposite. He starts whimpering when I put his coat on. Yesterday I was sitting on a bench in the park. When a family went by, he was so scared he ran right up me until he was on my chest!
Cleo, being a cat, hasn't noticed anything. :)
Sorry if the pictures are too big.
