I'm interested to know who watches these shows and what your thoughts are. And what's your guilty pleasure?

I thought I'd do a round-up of what I've been watching. I usually DVR these shows and watch them in the early morning, except when Jeff wants to watch Speechless.  Right now it's baseball season again, so I have no idea when we will actually get to any of the shows we watch together.

Big Bang Theory -  We have six episodes on the DVR, and the only thing that prevents us for deleting it is my husband's hoarding tendencies.  This week we started to watch an episode and got bored less than 15 minutes in and stopped it. It's the same few plots recycled and generally we know how everything is going to be resolved. Basic sitcom...yawn. It's been on for 12 seasons and will never go off the air. It's going off the DVR.

Speechless - this is a fucking great show.  The lead, Micah Fowler, plays JJ, a kid with severe cerebral palsy who can't speak, but uses a speechboard and laser pointer affixed to his head to communicate.  (The actor has cerebal palsy but can speak.)  He is hilarious, as are all of the kids.  Heh. Minnie Driver as the insanely over-protective mother whose whole identity is in being a special needs mom is also good.

JJ is not only telling his father he hates his aide's voice, he's forcing the aide to translate for him.

The scripts are a little uneven but overall it's extremely clever.  The father is John Ross Bowie, who was Kripke on Big Bang. Jeff, having a stutter, hated Kripke, but he's willing to "forgive" Bowie.

American Housewife - One word: sucks. Tried part of it twice and gave up.

Empire - I was really hooked on this over-the-top crazy soap opera set in a hip-hop music empire. Terrence Howard can do no wrong (onscreen anyway) and Taraji P. Henson is almost the whole show as Cookie.  She gets the best lines by far.  The music doesn't do anything for me. But out of curiosity, I went on Youtube to look at the videos of some of the songs. I am SO not their demo. Tons of fans of the music there.  This season they've hit the wall.  How many times can you have Cookie screaming at Lucius and then making out/rinse repeat, family fighting/rinse repeat, etc.

Again??

I really dug how realistic the portrayal of the oldest son, Andrei was.  He is bipolar and the way they portrayed his breakdowns was pitch perfect.  Now he's an arch-villain and uh-uh, I'm not buying it.  So it's going off the DVR.

The Walking Dead - The first episode just.no.  I watched the next two episodes before watching the first, then FF'd through the head-bashings.  Jeffrey Dean Morgan is REALLY getting on my nerves as Negan, with the hitching back and delivering his lines the same way.  Either jocular or psycho, nothing in between.  However, the season finale gave me what I wanted in SO many ways!  BAMF Rick!  The Kingdom (and others) to the rescue!  Walker Sasha!  But Eugene--fuck no! He's one of my favorite characters, but if he has truly gone darkside he needs to go.  I miss Abraham and his insanely wonderful dialogue.

Plus my new favorite duo - Jerry and his cobbler!

I mean, look at him! He is just adorable!

Supernatural is going off the DVR.

Guilty Pleasures
I watch these in the evening when Jeff's not around.
