Oct 23, 2015 20:03

When star Jensen Ackles directs an episode, fans go into a frenzy of anticipation.  "Weekend At Bobby's" was one of the best episodes of the sixth season.  However, what's a director to do when he's working with a script written by Eugenie Ross-Leming and Brad Buckner?  The show might as well tied a rock around Ackles's neck and tossed him into the ( Read more... )

Dead, I am dead. This review is a slice of fried gold, even if I didn't think the ep was quite as bad as you did (pretty Winchesters saved it for me). I particularly love conquistador and It's getting worse," Sam mutters, referring to Cas's acting.

This was NOT a good episode. I did like the angel and demon walk into a bar scene. The rest was bad. And Dean is mad that Sam made a deal with Rowena while trying to save Dean and didn't tell him? When did Sam have a chance? The timeline is 1) Sam works with Rowena, Charlie runs off and is killed 2) They bury Charlie and Dean goes off on his Styne Spree. 3) Rowena refuses to help remove the curse unless Sam kills Crowley 4) Sam fails to kill Crowley because whatever Rowena gave him to kill Crowley doesn’t work 5) Dean talks to Death who tells Dean that Dean has to kill Sam 6) Dean calls Sam, Sam comes to him Dean tells Sam that he is going to kill Sam. 7) Dean changes his mind and kills Death 8) Rowena removes the Mark 9) The Darkness is released Sam and Dean run for it. 9) Sam finds Dean. They then find the town infected by The Darkness. 10) They split up Dean with Amara, Sam curing the town. 11) They return home to find Cas collapsed and needing to be released from the Curse ( ... )

Between 10 and 11 in your timeline they drove back to the bunker. A broment during that drive was the logical time for conversation about all that happened. But none of the first three episodes had a bro-ment to deal with it. The car scene with Rowena got a secret out in the open but there was no talking about it. Carvernatural is all about dragging out tiny nothing bits of story. They could milk the secrets thing for half the season. How do some of these people still have jobs with such garbage writing and story structure?

Actually, I suspect that Dean will hide something even more important than Amara talking to him and this was a set up so people can say see, Sam is as bad (or worse) than Dean. It's far too like Dean tricking Sam into saying yes to Gadreel then suddenly Sam is the "bad guy" for not immediately forgiving Dean.

Nailed it! I couldn't finish the ep. Turned it off and did other things. I'm confused why there is even an issue about Sam going after Crowley. He has never made a secret that he would kill him given the chance - remember when he was junk in the trunk he said something like he'd have stabbed him in the head. Why are the Winchesters even balking over killing any demon, angel or witch who is dangerous?
I will probably watch next week, because Baby, but after that I suspect I have had my fill.

Sad but true. The list of shows I want to watch is getting smaller and smaller.

Darkness fast food!

Amara would love that, lol. And I agree, the best scenes are between Crowley and Amara. There's a few other things about the ep that I liked, but the rest of it... not so much.

So why should God give a fuck now?

I've wondered the same thing. Maybe he sees her as a personal threat, because she's "mightier than God".

Unless she created the Universe, she's not "mightier than God". The creators have hyped this to the ceiling, but maybe they're trying to figure out how to do it.

In the Not Making Any Sense Department, why isn't Crowley afraid of a being that powerful?

She could be "mightier" in a way that doesn't have to do with creating the universe. There's different ways to measure power. Or maybe she isn't mightier, but she believes she is. She could still be a threat to God, because he was only able to defeat her by tricking her.

Crowley probably is afraid of her, but thinks that if he "raises" her as a child, that she'll be on his side, and he can use that to his advantage.

This was a bad episode to have to direct. I feel sorry for Jensen. The brother moments made it worth the watch for me.
