I've been thinking about this post all day.

Part of my trouble is that I'm unsure what you mean by "romantic" in this context.

Sexy/charismatic? Yes, I think House sees himself this way.

As a romantic figure, like a Heathcliff? No, I don't think so, although as has been pointed out would admit to being adventurous, needy and intense.

Loving? House can be a deeply loving person. I think he probably knows this about himself (because he's smart and introspective). On the other hand, he can also be a difficult person to be with, and loving someone is no guarantee that they'll get what they want from him. I also think he would be uncomfortable admitting the extent to which he can love. He does tend to downplay those parts of himself that might argue in favor of his being a good person or a good partner.

As Alternatealto points out, House seems to doubt whether he's worthy of love, and I'd add to that his expectation that love can't be trusted. He's been hurt a lot, and he's uncomfortable with the side of himself that allows this to happen. I think he tries hard not to be vulnerable so he can avoid that kind of pain.
