The reason for this is pretty simple. Sera Gamble, who was the biggest Sam Girl ever, stepped down last year, for Ben Carver to take the reins as showrunner. Gamble was responsible for all of Sam's storylines over the last couple of seasons(although she refuses to be credited for Soulless. Methinks she protests too much for that failure 'nods')

The rumor is that Carver is more fond of Dean and Castiel's characters. Don't know it that is truth, but the the plotlines of this season definitely support that. Personally, I think that Carver is just as much of a failure as Gamble. Sera was too fixated on Sam, and a change was needed. But, Carver has made too many changes too fast, thus putting this longtime fan off the show in a big way.

Hey you! And yes, I put in my two cents too. Of course, it is very different than your comment. LOL But not too much when it comes to Miss 'Jared please fuck me' Gamble. LOL ;) *hugs*

Yet despite that, Dean's storylines keep getting dropped over and over. Even as we were forced to keep enduring the boring as hell Amelia flashbacks, Dean's far more interesting flashbacks were stopped pretty quickly to focus back on Sam's storyline, (which Carver has claimed he loved, yes it was boring, but that was not the writer's intention)

This is actually an ongoing problem. Every single time we Dean fans hope for a decent storyline for Dean, it gets dropped to once again focus on Sam, over and over and over. It does get rather annoying.

Just look at Dean's pain from hell, dropped. Dean as Micheal's vessel, dropped, Dean as an alcoholic, dropped, Dean in purgatory, dropped with Dean made to apologize to Sam, even though we don't even get a hint of an apology from Sam over the way he's been behaving all season. (and seriously, I want to like Sam, I've always loved his character. But if he doesn't apologize and soon, I will end up hating him, whether I want to or not.)

Exactly this! Annoying and frustrating indeed. And based on at least one of the spoilers recently, looks like to me that they may have found a way to again turn the season's focus back on Sam. Hope to be wrong.

Yes!! Exactly!! You are 100% correct.

Every time Dean gets his teeth into something good it gets sh*tcanned for Sam and his....whatever flavor of the season he's banging.

I am sick and tired of Sam getting his way all the freaking time. Dean "broke up" with Benny because of his brother. Jensen has said that Dean would never give up on a friend and what has happened??? He bailed on Benny when he needed Dean the most. That is so OOC it stinks like week old road kill in the Texas sun!

We never get an apology from Sam for the way he has treated Dean for...I dunno years. Since day one almost. But Dean always apologizes to Sam and half the time, he shouldn't be. Just like giving up Benny for Sam. What the hell was that about? Dean's a loyal person. That was so OOC that it wasn't even funny!

The backstory of these two is that Dean is willing to do anything for Sam and yet Sam is always willing to step all over his brother to do what he wants to do, self centered and self serving. *nods* If they were in a relationship we'd all be yelling at Dean to get out of it and that he could do better than that!

I agree; you can read my review of the last episode about how many arcs they're shoving into this season. As they say, there'll be tears before bedtime.
