Anyone who knows me knows where my sympathies lie. I got up this morning at 6 AM to vote, and I am so glad I did. For whatever one can say about our fucked-up, broken electoral system, it's what we have and what we can use as a voice of the people. The polling place, in a local high school gym, was packed. There was a lot of grumbling because of the new polling system (filling in paper ballots at "privacy booths" then carrying them back to be scanned), and long lines, but we all stuck it out. The thing I was proudest of were those people who brought their children to demonstrate how the political process works.
