maggie, adam and i decided to go to the beach today! we brought a picnic to cape henlopen state park in delaware. the beach was nice. not too crowded and not too hot. the water was ice cold at first but better once you got used to it. i only put my feet in the water which the waves decided should be my upper thighs too. we found some extra large clam shells! a seagull kept trying to snatch maggie's sandwich right out of her hands. we wandered around the park more and found a fort with huge cannons and guns and barraks from WWII. there was a hill that you could see a second smaller beach from and it was a perfect view. i imagined soldiers invading from the ocean but more so i took in the view, the peacefulness and the quiet except for the waves crashing on the beach. there was also an observation deck in a tower but it was getting late so we wanted to head back. the sunset on the way home was so gorgeous especially driving over a bridge with an artistic striped triangles in the middle . the sky made a rainbow. dark red at the bottom to peach to yellow to subtle green to blue to purple!
i love how centrally located philadelphia is and how close by all these other states are with so many sites to see! i will definitely need to do this more on weekends that are not 3 days long too. it makes my weekend fly by and it really relaxes me.
speaking of relaxing.... i'm going to begin my weekends with yoga from now on. i'm going to try to go to the one at my gym on saturday from 10-11am.
