So Christmas was good. Dad came down for four days and Mike's parents came for Christmas dinner. I really enjoyed myself.
Dad, Mom and I made a gingerbread house, shortbread cookies and swedish tea rings on the weekend. For monday's dinner we had a fairly traditional meal; turkey, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, apple crisp, etc. But it all turned out so fabulous. The turkey was ultra tender and the veggies were all cooked just perfectly. Joan (Mike's mom) got a little drunk on the wine with dinner, which was hilarious because she's such a random drunk. By the time everything was tidied up and put away, we were all just lounging in the living room, ready for bed. I guess triptophan really is an intense chemical.
I got a lot of gifts from everyone, which is not something I was really expecting. Here is a list in no particular order:
- Star sapphire ring!!!
- Chocolate
- Film
- Socks
- Chef! DVD
- Two hair straighteners
- Bracelets/earrings
- Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Phantom of the Opera DVD
- A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum DVD
- Fast Times at Ridgemont High DVD
- Grease DVD
- Roasting pan
- Sauce pan
- Stuffed bear
- Bath stuff
- Grey leather purse
- Books (Egypt & Beatles)
- Some other things I can't remember at the moment
The only thing missing from my Christmas is Bronte. I really felt the loss at that time, especially when we gave the cats their gifts. Bron would have loved all the toys and would have been the first one to start chewing the ribbons and sniffing all the opened presents. I also thought of him when we were cutting up the turkey... almost kept the bones to make some turkey stock for him. I had to do a double take to realize that he doesn't need it where he is now. I miss my little pork chop. Soon my painting of the rainbow bridge will be complete, so I can look at it and think of him in that beautiful, happy place.
