The fork in the road...a destra o sinistra?

I want to move to Italy so badly. Since I'm no longer going to UF (a very recent decision which you're most likely just now hearing about for the first time), I am going to take a different path and go to a design school because when it all boils down to it-big business just isn't for me; I prefer to working with something more creative than a ( Read more... )

Thanks, I have to agree with most of what you're saying. I can't blame my mom for wanting me to stay-i know I can't hold that against her for any reason...but I'm not going to stay here forever, so my leaving is going to have to happen eventually. The culture i seek IS Italian. Honestly, I don't see much of my family much as it is. Basically, I live at home, but I'm either always at work or school and I've only recently started even seeing my mom on a daily basis because she got married (before she wouldn't even come home until midnight and I'd just be home alone, can't really call that quality time). I can go to Italy after I graduate, but then that's when this dilemma comes into play: i can't legally work in Italy unless I'm an Italian citizen, and I can't be an Italian citizen unless I've held residency in Italy for three years (3 instead of 10 because I have italian roots). So basically, if I stay here, it's going to be near impossible to find work there later on unless I start my own business there, which takes a lot of money in itself. You're opinion helped me think things through though...thanks!
