Ughh I was only thinking of cartoon!Slade and how hilarious she'd be, but COMICS SLADE WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLY SEXY, I SWEAR...the muscles and metahuman strength, the old lady-ness and the eyepatch, the outwardly psycho, secretly devoted fail!parenting, and I have a stupid bias for mommy issues over daddy issues (especially when the mommy is like, CRAZY AND IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE AND SHIT) so Rose and Joey and their relationship with Slade would become even more interestingly fucked up to me too...

omg I haven't read much of Adeline's stuff at all yet (I'm just getting into comics and jump all over the place with the stuff I read) but I'm actually REALLY EXCITED TO, right now I just know her as yet another person in Slade's life that he's like THERE IS VERY BAD BLOOD BETWEEN US AND I'M NEVER BOTHERING TO FIX IT but I will always secretly luv u and raaaaaaaage when you die, his family issues will always be so hilarious to me idk...but bawww, I love batshit insane ladies so I'll probably enjoy her even when her writing gets fucked. We'll see. DUDE IF YOU WANT STUFF WITH ADELINE, READ SLADE'S SOLO SERIES. Seriously, I haven't read many comics, just patches here and there, but that is one thing I do have. AND DEAR GOD IT'S SO SAD because he still loves her and never ever refers to her as anything but 'my wife' even though they're divorced, and Adeline just hates him so much even though she loves him too so it's horrible and messed up forever.

Honestly? I really really don't like what they've done with Slade in current continuity because GODDAMMIT HE'S ONE OF THOSE GRAY CHARACTERS OKAY? HE IS NOT EVIL DAMMIT. NOT. EVIL. IF YOU WANT EVIL SLADE, WATCH THE TOON AND LEAVE THIS ONE ALONE. B|

The only writer for Slade for me is Wolfman. He is the one who created Slade and wrote his early appearances and solo series. There is no Slade to me except what Wolfman writes.

I HAVE IT DOWNLOADED AND WAS SAVING IT FOR WHEN I'M ALL CAUGHT UP ON NEW TEEN TITANS BUT UMMMM I DIDN'T REALIZE IT HAD ADELINE ANGST THIS MAKES ME WANT IT SO BAD *____* I WILL GET ON THAT, their relationship sounds even hotter than I thought fuckkkkk

Yeah see, I think Slade is...a lot more boring in the more recent incarnations I've read, being a happy Society Villain and nuking Bludhaven out of butthurt and etc etc (and I gather that part of the issue IS that the guy who wrote cartoon!Slade has been writing some of his comics without seeming to really process the difference and eughhhhh that's like trying to turn Kory into cartoon!Starfire, it just doesn't fucking make any sense), but I still enjoy the internally retconny shit with Titans East and his Faces of Evil oneshot where he does INCOMPREHENSIBLE SELF-SACRIFICING MACHINATIONS THAT ONLY APPEAR VILLAINOUS AND DASTARDLY!!! REALLY HE IS ACTING OUT OF SELF-HATE AND LOVE FOR HIS CHILDREN!!! It's seriously such bad (bad, bad, bad), stupid writing but like I said I have no taste

DUDE I HAVE SO MUCH NEW TEEN TITANS TO READ BUT SLADE IS MY FIRST LOVE SO I READ HIS JUNK AND SKIPPED OVER THE OTHER BITS BECAUSE I SUCK LIKE THAT. BUT YEAH, SERIOUSLY, READ HIS SOLO SERIES, IT'S BEAUTIFUL. And yes, if you think Adeline trying to kill Slade and going batshit over wanting to do this so bad (there are other reasons, but I won't spoil you, unless of course you've read Wiki and you're spoiled already) then yes, it's very hot.

HE REALLY IS. Seriously, it irritates me because it just doesn't mesh at all with his original characterization. Slade is very very picky about his jobs. Like, invitations to help in an uprising? He turns it down. Eight times. If it goes against his particular/peculiar moral code, he won't do it. So yeah, DC has pretty much raped him as a character IMO. And YEAH, I have those retcons which are just...I mean, seriously? It would have been better if they just kept him in the gray in the first place. It was like "WOOPS we raped a favorite and made him OOC, let's try to fix it now
