HISTORY MIDTERM OVER. One of the extra-credit questions was "Name at least six other students in this class". :D Seriously, I wish you guys could all take this teacher's classes, he's awesome

I have very, very long bus rides to and from school. IDK SOMETIMES MY BRAIN GOES PLACES AND SENDS ME POSTCARDS FROM THERE. But HOMG FEMSWAPPED SHAKESPEARE FUCK YESSSSSSSSSSSSS *____*
WE SHOULD TOTALLY DISCUSS FEMSWAPPED V AND PHANTOM. (Although I secretly have a theory that V is Ruth, which is totally unfounded by any sort of canon and for which Alan Moore would probably frown at me epically, but YOU NEVER KNOW, RIGHT.)
An all-out genderswapped Taming of the Shrew would be amazing and timely and sexy and I'd love it to tiny pieces. Especially if the guy started out as, you know, handsome but a douche, and got such a big taste of his own medicine that he made an actualfax effort to be a better person. >:D (A lesbian Taming would just be, like, the equivalent of the hottest porn ever made, for me.)
Re: characters of color: That would be pretty awesome, actually! I should ask around and see if I can find other people who are into the idea of starting a comm. :D ty bb!
As for Watchmen... enh. The comic is brilliant, and the movie has its moments. I still think it would have made a much better miniseries than a movie, but whatever, all I can really do about it is frown disapprovingly at Zack Snyder if I ever meet him.
'TIS PITY HE'S A WHORE: WHEREIN A PICKUP ARTIST IS CURED OF HIS POINT-TO-SCHLONGERY
um anyhoo
Remember the chapter with Valerie? The lesbian movie star who got locked up for being a lesbian and then sent that gorgeous account of her life through a crack in the wall to whoever would read it next? The great love of her life was named Ruth. Valerie was told Ruth killed herself, and I know The Man In Room Five was considered a man by the entire staff of that camp, but. It would be so awesome and heartbreaking and gorgeous if V turned out to be Ruth, who had survived the suicide attempt and was taking revenge for her marginalization by society and Valerie's death and trying to bring ~*~art~*~ back into the world and yeah.
Plus it would explain part of the ending (i.e., why no one goes "hay wait V sounds like a girl now").
TRUFAX CONFESSION: I would be all over a lesbian PUA reality show. It would be so awesome--a simultaneous debunking of moronic evo-psych-based methodologies and, well, hotness.
OK, so, I never read the comic, only saw the movie, which I now wish to view again that I may fully appreciate this brilliant-sounding retcon.
lolol you mean like a show where PUAs are pitted against lesbians, or where lesbians attempt to use PUA strategies? Because either way, A+++++ WOULD WATCH ENTIRE SEASONS
The movie is surprisingly close to the comic, especially in the Valerie section--Valerie's letter is taken almost word for word from the original, which makes me tear up nearly every damn time I watch that movie. There's a lot more really amazing, interesting stuff in the comic, though--particularly having to do with the idea that anarchy isn't just destruction, and the concept of integrity, and there's a fucking brilliant subplot involving the fallout from one of V's killings.
ahahasha I was thinking primarily lesbians using PUA strategies (in a way that puts the strategies under a microscope just as much as--if not more so than--the women using them to get laid). BUT I WOULD WATCH THE HELL out of like....a game show with teams of faildouche straight guys competing with lolsbians for the hearts of "indecisive" bisexuals :D:
I...remember the emotional impact of that scene more so than the specifics, and dammit, you're making me want to add this to my list of comics I want to read but never seem to find the time for. AND I TOTES AGREE THAT ANARCHY ISN'T JUST ABOUT DESTRUCTION. It's also about...dancing.

But first, remind me again who Ruth is? Was she one of V's victim's? It's been a few years and, well, memoryfail.
