being bought out by Six apart seemed seemless.

the fear many are having with Yahoo now taking them over is Ad Blogging. Ad's all over. in fact I believe one of the articles specified how popular web ads are. a hint as why yahoo is buying six was to expand on that.

I'll wait and see. just something to watch.

Having been burned by buy outs it's something to be aware of.

Oh wait, Yahoo bought out Six Apart after they bought LJ? Oh crap, that explains something.. LJ used to be very cookie-free.. Maybe one cookie, but now there are more than one that try to put themselves on your computer when you log in.. At least, the last time I logged in with cookies on prompt..

Shit.

Don't jump to conclusions too fast. The Yahoo/Six Apart deal is still very much a rumor. Really, it would have been impossible for them to have inked an acquisition in such rapid time, especially after Six Apart just closed the deal with LJ not two weeks ago.

The cookie notice(s) you got about LJ were simply because LiveJournal's whole server & db was down for a full day due to a total power failure at their server site. Cookies don't persist across a full system shutdown/restart, so everyone had to re-log in, possibly after getting an "Invalid Cookie" message. That's why LJ put a new cookie on your computer - it actually should have been a replacement for the former login cookie, not a totally new one, but I'm not sure if your s/w makes that distinction.

Now, it may well still be true that Six Apart will change LiveJournal eventually, in fact, since LJ was evolving quite a bit on its own, I'm sure there will be changes in the future. And it may still be possible that Yahoo could buy Six Apart, although I very seriously doubt ( ... )
