Weekend Photo Blitz.
Wow. I feel like I've been gone forever. The conference was good, but WAY too jam-packed with science. :) Seriously, the schedule was intense.
Breakfast 7-8:30
Morning session 8:30-12 with a 15 minute refreshment break
Lunch 12-1:30
Afternoon session 1:30-5 with a 15 minute break
Dinner 5:30-7
Evening session 7-11:30 with a 15 minute break
Okay, it didn't go until 11:30 every night. But it always went until past 10:30. That's a lot of science. I did skip out on one entire morning session to meet up with my former boss on campus. But other than that, I went to most of the rest of them. :( We did manage to go out for a couple drinks one night. And there was a nice dinner and banquet on Saturday night. By that point though, we were all ready to head home and ended up booking out of there at around 11pm and making it home by 1 am.
Traveling always tends to bring out a person's true character and there were points during this trip where I imagined none of us would speak again. Not good considering I see these people on a daily basis at work. But by the end we were on friendly terms again and just happy to be home.
Anyway, the Madison campus is beautiful. I was hoping to hate it because of the whole Wisconsin, Illinois rivalry... but I just couldn't.... Any campus where the Union has a large patio with Leinenkugel's on tap and a grill where you can buy burgers and brats can't be bad. And it's on the waterfront. Did I mention they also make their own ice cream and cheese at "The Dairy Store" attached to the dairy farm? Yeah, they do. I only wish I had had my time on my own to wander and explore. A return trip with The Boy may be necessary some day.

I enjoyed Madison, but it's so nice to be home. :)
