So I apparently had an angel in my front seat tonight.
There was a very heavy fog, and I was about a minute and a half from my house. Sound like a recipe for disaster? You bet.
I was negotiating the last few sharp turn through a narrow strip of woods separating the highway from the road to my neighborhood, kind of half-assed paying attention. All of a sudden, I thought, "I'd better pay closer attention, in case something or someone jumps out at me." With senses much more alert, I was still nevertheless surprised when a deer bolted out in front of me, barely 15 feet ahead. I was able to stop in time, though my tires screamed in protest on the slick pavement.
I barely had time to finish thinking that thought when it happened. All in a span of about five seconds. Creepy, huh? Thank God and Goddess: I was being watched out for.
