My heart goes out to the stagehands of Broadway, as well as the ticket holders (as much I as I support the stagehands, getting your tickets canceled still sucks). Hopefully things will be resolved quickly so that Broadway as a whole doesn't lose too much money, or before things get too bad. They are losing about 17 million a day for every day of the strike. There have been disagreements about contracts since July with the Producers' League, and the stagehands finally decided to strike. Technically, shows that are not doing too well (Rent, Drowsy Chaperone) will close permanently if the strike goes on too long. The Disney shows (apart from Little Mermaid) are not affected, as well as non profit shows, and some others including Young Frankenstein. The guy who plays the Grinch in How the Grinch Stole Christmas was outside of his theater today singing to crying children. Also, actors of various shows, including Spring Awakening and Drowsy Chaperone, are standing in line with the stagehands to show their support, which is nice.
Oh, and I have fallen in love with Legally Blonde: The Musical! It's amazing. I need to get myself the cd. (Too bad it's also closed right now. Heh heh...::sigh::)
