Well,
The last time I was in the USA, was waaaaaaay back in 2016. Up until then, it had been every two years. Craige and I went in 2012, then 2014, then 2016.
I think 2018 got skipped for a number of reasons - some of which I think I know, some of which I don't. And timelines get confusing when you're trying to remember that far back.
Then in 2019, Craige and I went to Hong Kong for my 50th.
Then.... COVID hit. And travel was impossible for at least 2 years, and when borders started to open back up, there were still all sorts of hoops to jump through in terms of vaccinations, etc., and it was horrendously expensive to fly. Not to mention that airlines hadn't gotten their "mojo" back, and flights were getting cancelled left, right, and centre, and there were horror stories of people getting stranded overseas, and bags going missing for weeks.
So most of my Annual Leave times were little road trips - some with Craige, and some not.
But after the last 9 months of work drama - which I will finally write about in full soon - I needed some time away. And Steve had been in Oklahoma with his brother Pat, since May. And what turned out to be a trip for him to help Pat with a large bronze sculpture that he had been commissioned to make, turned in to Steve being a nurse for Pat, who got extremely ill. And still is.
So Steve suggested I come over to stay with him, and help him - as well as give him some much needed company. And I need some time to destress and rehabilitate my horrendously damaged mental health and depression. I'm not even going to classify it as a holiday. More so a "recovery therapy journey". And I may get behind posting here, and I'm also going to keep it on the down low, so won't be posting on Facebook. I have a few people I'm going to try and surprise whilst I'm here.
So tonight, I'm staying with Craige & Oz, and we had a lovely KFC pigout. And hopefully I'll sleep tonight, for I'll be up around 7.00am tomorrow morning to shower, dress, and have everything ready for Craige to take me to the airport...
Wish me luck!
