So, I've had a fabulous week. Daniel had the week off and it was a good combination of relaxation, adventure, and a little Anchorage culture. (oh and a BUTT LOAD of shopping at REI)

We decided that it would be a good idea to hike Kasugi ridge which is located right near the Denali range. We were planning on a 3-4 day hike with lots of picture taking scattered in as well. Well, to make a very long story short it was HORRIBLE. The weather was not on our side and it rained for a straight 20 hours on the second day. And by rain I don't mean drizzle. I mean your hiking along the ridge of this mountain with crazy winds blowing the rain into your face so hard it hurts kind of rain. NOT COOL. (oh and somehow our tent malfunctioned and everything in it was soaked from top to bottom- awesome) Thank you Jesus there was an escape route about halfway through the hike. We ended up making it down to the road about 10 p.m. and were able to hitch a ride back to our car in no time at all. Now, after all that shit talking I still totally recomend the hike and if we ever have the chance to do it again during GOOD weather I think we will definitely give it a shot.

We checked out all the salmon on parade this Saturday in Anchorage. (after having a hotdog from the hotdog man, mmmmm) They were fun as always and I think I'm going to try and get invited to the auction this fall so that we can bid on one. I think it would be so fun to have one of these in France. Like, on our front porch or something :)

I'm looking forward to next week too. We're doing the Johnson's pass hike beginning on Saturday and that should be just one overnight. THEN- the day after Daniel's birthday we're headed out to Katmai to go see the bears! I'm SO excited about seeing those guys catch fish out of the river. Be on the lookout for some super sweet pics on Flickr late next week.

That's it for me- peace out!
