PASSPORT!!

Well I have finally done it. For the past 3 years someone (ie Richcub2002) has been pesting me about getting a passport, so that we could do some international travel. Now there have been some additional friends bugging me about it also in the last few weeks. Now you got to understand that I had the application filled out for the last year, but just couldn't find the time to get the photo's done (I know, they take the photo where you turn the application in at). So on Nov 13th, I went to the Camp Hill Post Office to turn it in. Waited in line for about 20 min with the application, only to find out that the birth certificate that I had received when I came into existence on this earth, was not valid because it did not have the stamp and seal on it. Come on now, it was good enough for the last upteen years when I needed one, IE join the service, cross the border, etc.... SO i had to vetenure downtown to the Dept of Health to get one. Found the form online, filled it out and trotted myself to DOH. So at 11am, I am at DOH, hand in the form and was getting ready to pay for it, when I was kindly informed that it was FREE for members of the armed forces and their families. Then I was told to come back in 2 hours to get it. Went back in two hours and there was some irrate woman in front of me taht wanted a birth certificate but had no proof of her current address. They would not give her one. I got my certificate and went back to the PO, got the photo done and turned in the application. Was told that it would take about 6-8 weeks to be processed.

Well the ending of this story is, I received an email on Monday from the State Dept saying that my application has been processed, finalized and mailed. I should have the passport by Dec 2. Damn, that is just less than 2.5 weeks from when I applied.

Watch out Amsterdam, here we come next summer. Maybe we can also do some international bear events also.
