J gave me the biggest indirect compliment the other night, it was an introduction actually. he said, to his neighbor's friend, deliverer of sandwiches and guitar guy, "Sam is the incarnation of many dead guitarists." and he said he wasn't kidding, lol.

I'd love to start a band, a real band, not the toy one that I had going with Matt. but unfortunately, I'm of the breed of musician that's incredibly shy. even if I am the incarnation of many dead guitarists I still have an inferiority complex, and I'm afraid to work with others. chemistry is such a hard thing to come by, and it's nothing you can force. I also lack a lot of the "professional" aspects, whatever they are, that the "pros" would gravitate towards. if I posted ads on craiglist I'd get chewed out by all the other wannabe's out there and told to take a hike or worse, "stop whoring out your lack luster talent so this scene can have some dignity again." I'm also at a strange point influentually. I sorta want to do the solo artist thing. but then I'm just a dude with a guitar, like all the other millions out there. and if I were in a band I'm just one of those dime a dozen bands. and what I am in a band is definitely different from what I am solo. as in appealing to different crowds entirely, almost.

in the recent months, and gradually over the past couple years, I've cultivated a small desire to be known. all I know is that I'd really like to give the musician thing a shot, in some official form or another. it's weird, when "outside" of that business one has almost no clue how it works and much less how to get "in." at least, that's my experience. and most of the groups you hear on the radio were either accidentally discovered jems of talent and/or music industry whores.

most of the time a band or a solo artist or any other traveling gig of freaks have spent years and years working to get what they have.

I've trailed off and started surfing... I found something pretty amusing, here: http://www.johnankerberg.org/Articles/new-age/NA0801W3.htm

in my experience... Christianity was just as dangerous and "cultish." they can suck on their book all they want, they are no different than what they proclaim to avoid. they're worse, in fact.
